The only thing that makes Goldeneye even mildly palatable is Sean Bean, Famke Janssen, and Robbie Coltrane.

Yes ā¦ even if itās the best of the bad bunch.
By the time Brosnan got the job, the whole vibe had changed ā¦ for me it just no longer works, and I think itās in the hands of people who arenāt skilled or have much sense of style regarding the character and what had gone before.
The blueprints are there, and yet the producers, or should I say owners of the franchise canāt pull it off no matter how much money is thrown at it.
I also think the Daniel Craig films are poor ā¦ the latest one I actually couldnāt watch past the 30 minutes mark, and thatās a first.
I am a huge fan of the Bond from the 1960s and 70s ā¦ and even though the last 3 or 4 from Roger Moore began to feel like they were losing it ā¦ any of his duff efforts are still miles better than Dalton, Brosnan and Craig.

I agree with you on the Craig era, I love Casino Royale but more as an action spy film rather than as an actual Bond film. To me Bond is always that campy era with Connery and Moore, the super serious Craig stuff does nothing for me. I do personally think the Dalton and Brosnan Bonds do a good job at getting a good balance between that serious time but also keeping some of the goofy cheesiness of early Bond.

BTW ā¦ My favorite is, āFrom Russia with Loveā, though I like all the Connery movies ā¦ āNever Say Neverā doesnāt count ā¦ itās total shite!

For my part, From Russia With Love is still my all time favourite but think that all of the Bonds have made some good efforts and those that hung on a bit wound up making at least one stinker. I actually thought both Daltonās were pretty good and Brosnanās until his last which was a horror show. Craig should have been retired 2 films before he was and Moore went sour at Moonraker and was patchy thereon. Iām an addict though so canāt leave them alone and will almost certainly get drawn in to whatever they serve up next although Iām dreading whatever it might turn to be

I think my favourites are the first few Connery films, The Man With the Golden Gun and Goldeneye. I can see not everyone here likes Brosnan, I do, but I admit Iām probably biased because I grew up playing video games where you play as his version of the character. That said I still think Die Another Day is the worst.

Well, unfortunately, I had to watch an even more interesting program, a black and white documentary about wind conditions in Siberia, that night.
Seriously speaking though, my brother watched it on TV, and while itās always nice to see your home country win something (even when one is totally indifferent to the competition in question) I understood absolutely nothing about the song. Exactly where was the hook? Or even a remotely ear-friendly tune? Just a long mumble (not that the competition as great - There is a reason I usually spend Eurovision nights listening to Lightninā Hopkins instead).

For some reason last year, they started a U.S. version of Eurovision except it is a state thing as opposed to a country thing. All I can say is that Hollywood, and the entertainment industry as a whole, has completely lost all creativity and imagination. It seem that half the programming over here now is nothing but a re-make of something done somewhere else in the world or a re-make of some original programming done in the U.S. 40 years ago. It is completely sad and a bit pathetic.
At one point in this country, our best and brightest became professors, politicians, journalists, or used their creativity in the world of literature or entertainment. Now, it seems all of these professions are full of plagiarists, propagandists, or people too stupid to do anything either creative or productive with their lives.

Saw that they did a āgreat Liverpool songbookā at Eurovision where they did covers of songs by Atomic Kitten and Mel C, but not a single Beatles or Searchers song. Seems a bit backwards.

Copyright reasons ā¦ or, complete ignorance! 
You never see Beatles or āStonesā songs on any of these āGreatest Hits of the 60sā compilations, because the copyright owner (usually not the actual band or author) will want zillions to license the tunes.

We always have a Eurovision party with the family. The music is the least enjoyable part. We have a smorgasboard of food from different european countries and work out our own scoring system based on Eurovision cliches, staging and pyrotechnics and the sheer bonkersness of it all.
This year had some added excitement as my middle daughter who was heavily pregnant went into labour during the festivities.
Baby was safely delivered next day.
