It seems like an insult to Corbucci, that his most famous work, and some say masterpiece, would be worth so little … but at least it’s with somebody who appreciates it.

I’ll bet no one got paid their copyright dues on any aspect of this release 
Watched it last night, just to check picture and audio quality, which is very good, though it’s 4.3 letterbox … the same as the old UK release … and the English subs are definitely UK also … use of ‘Mummy’ as opposed to ‘Mom’ or ‘Mommy’ during the massacre of Silence’s parents.
Ending up watching it all the way through, which was my first time with the Italian dub … the most striking difference is how much more you hate Kinski’s character in Italian, he’s a slimy little turd you just want to tear limb from limb … and he survives! FFS LOL
So the film probably jumped a few notches in my estimation seeing this version.

I’ve been wanting to add Scalps, venganza india to the collection for quite some time but getting hold of a European release in the U.S. without over-paying (especially for a film of questionable reputation) is not an easy task. I had actually stopped looking until the movie came back up as a topic on here recently, so I decided to hop over to eBay to see if there was any being offered for a reasonable price and what do you know. Someone was offering the release from Spain for less than $12 including shipping so I decided to jump.

I am very excited to get my hands on a new copy of this blu-ray since, as far as I can tell, the release from Japan is the only one currently available. There are some copies of this release on eBay that people are wanting way too much money for, but I got this one from a guy in Texas for $25.

Looking forward to seeing how this one looks cleaned up, and in HD. I’m really excited to check out Mike Hauss’s aka @Djangoisme commentary he recorded for the release and see what he has to say about the film.
I give the film a B overall, some aspects of the film are dated but it’s still fun.

I know that I am a little late to the party as I see you’ve already watched it. But I just had to add that I am with you and Seb. It isn’t half bad and its sleazy reputation is overrated on the whole. Decent story and good acting. What else can you ask for?

Shanghai Joe is a really fun watch! I never understood the dislike from many but we all have our own preferences. I didn’t pick up the new release as I am pleased with my WE disc but was tempted as that is a nice looking release.
