I Just Bought … (the SW Shopping Diary)

no idea… and I also had the other edition that I had never watched I think, and before that I had the BU DVD

Ah fair enough then

This is an unfunny comedy western from Amazon.de with smeary images that look like it was downloaded from YouTube at 240p. Lincoln Tate is in it. Was he ever in a good movie?
However, there is a highlight where Tate pours laxative into the Bandits’ drinking supply and they all start farting and running for the toilet. I mean fart sounds are hysterical aren’t they?

This is TEQUILA JOE. The one about a cowardly, self-pitying, drunken Sheriff who is helped to redeem himself by a young fast-shooting deputy. It’s okay, but the redemption takes a long time coming and isn’t all that spectacular.

Two pretty girls in this: Adriana Ambesi and Katia Loritz. I checked them out on imdb to see what they had done since this movie, and came to the conclusion that I’m watching movies with very old or dead people in them. A sobering thought. Blu Ray is good quality, but the movie is just full of silly fist fights to justify George Martin removing his shirt in order to dab down his bruises with cold water every ten minutes. Not a classic.

Do you know how the picture quality of that dvd compares to the Wild East one??

Well it’s a new scan, and on BluRay… So probably light years better. I have read good things about this disc all things considered

If you are talking about TEQUILA JOE, then this is the German version:

If the ratio is off, that’s me, because I did a down and dirty anamorphic stretch.
I got the movie because Leonora Ruffo was in it.

Beautiful actress from Queen of Sheba, Goliath and the Sins of Babylon, 2+5 Mission Hydra, and Fellini’s I Vitelloni. I wondered what she was doing in this. Not much. Just looking beautiful, with not a hair out of place after Mimmo Palmara gives her to his men to rape.
Not even runny mascara or the odd bruise. Timeless beauty.

If you’re asking about NEVADA JOE, then I can’t show you a BluRay frame grab, but this is from the accompanying DVD

The BluRay is even better.
The opening titles are pretty rough.

But afterwards the BluRay is good quality.
In fact there are two versions of the opening titles, one with the main version and one with the Langfassung version that contains a couple of extra scenes.
On the DVD there’s some interlace motion effects:

Note the fuzzy guy on the left. Looks even worse on my frame grab. But the BluRay doesn’t seem to suffer any of this

The source of the NEVADA JOE Blu Ray was an Original German 35mm copy from cinema. The quality is really good (main movie)
For the “Langfassung” they inserted the Spanish opening and end credits as well as some smaller scenes that were cut in German version. Spanish source was in SD therefore quality is lower in that scenes.
Here you have a good view on the cut scenes and differences:

I know here at SWDB we’re all wetting our pants over this imminent BD release of ‘Run Man, Run!’ … will it or won’t it have this dub or that subtitle! Tranquillo amigos, por favor!

Of course it will have the English dub … why would it not ???

Let’s get real for a second - This is a 55 year old film that no one outside of our community has heard of or gives two fucks about … it’s being flogged at £23 'cause it’s a limited edition of 3000 copies. ‘Panic, panic, panic’ … hit that pre-order button now !!! LOL

Does anyone in the UK recall the Blue Underground DVD release - region 0 being available for sale in Virgin shops ? … and then eventually ending up in cash converters for £1 ?

It’s very unusual that a USA release would appear in UK shops … but it did, because they couldn’t sell the damn thing at home.

I love this movie and I think the Blue Underground release was 100% brilliant (apart from having horrible Italian audio)

Here’s the thing guys … we are the customers, we are the goons who’ll be paying the over the top asking price, salivating over our unboxing ritual and then not even watching the feckin’ movie. If Eureka don’t meet your requirements regarding subs or dubs, then don’t buy it … ok?

This would be a great moment for Blue Underground to announce it as well

Is this the latest speculation? Wouldn’t the English audio be a prerequisite? It’s not like Gli Specialisti with the rare partial dub.

well it’s not listed on their release info, so there’s no certainty at this point, and I haven’t heard back from them yet…
