We’re just having a kinda inside joke here, Spuff. To tell you the truth, I’d like to own WE’s Boot Hill too even though I don’t “appreciate” the film as much as some other member(s) here.
In fact some dare to think, and me the most, the movie is a damn fine movie. So far I’m the only one who has Boot Hill in his Top 20.
But generally there is a great variety of films in the members Top 20 lists. Even though the Sergios are dominating most of the lists nevertheless.
Yes it is too clean and not polluted enough
Don’t take it so seriously Spuff. We’re just all kidding here, all in good fun. We’re all big supporters of wildeast here and happy for you that you got your special gift. Its just that some of us (including myself) are not exactly fond of the film! Also, we do not like the same 15 films, you’d be surprised how diverse our taste can be.
For example, the running joke on this forum is that Stanton and I are oil and water when it comes to our taste in SWs. He thinks boot hill is gold I think its crap lol. But if you like the film I hope you enjoy the dvd.
Fair enough, welcome to the forum. Glad you found some movies to enjoy. Why are you frustrated by our comments? I don’t think we’ve said anything that would be considered even remotely offensive.
I want this! ;D
been meaning to say this for a long time. but i fell that lots of members on this forum (not giving names) are very rude and stuck up, think they are better than everyone.
not talking about you Col. Douglas Mortimer your one of the few nice ones!!!
me too ;D
Yeah I think Long ride from hell was the first one to do that. Sometimes I buy dvds just for the menu screens alone.
I can’t wait till I get my copy in the mail. Ever since I watched Red Blood, Yellow Gold I have developed some sort of “man crush” on George Hilton. Is that gay?
Hells yeah. RBYG is a great movie, one of those films that makes you go “DAMN”.
P.S. If little kids are reading this right now, #1 you got great taste in films, #2 why the fuck ain’t you in school, #3 titty bitch cock ass fuck.
please watch the language
I’ll try my best. No promises.
I thought Wild East’s production of “Don’t Turn the Other Cheek” was top-notch. It reminded me a lot of Blue Underground’s “Companeros”: Anamorphic OAR image; English audio with subs for the Italian where no English was available; excellent special features (in the case a great interview with Eli Wallach).
It is yes, but then of course you get some in the incorrect widescreen ratio’s.
Regarding too much compression on Wild East’s double-bills, is that really noticeable?
I don’t own any of their double-bills, but am planning to get the new George Hilton one (Actually I’m only buying it for the Fago movie and would rather it just included that one with some nice special features instead).
That’s no reason not to care about getting it in its OAR and ideally anamorphic.
No, it was a great release -nice anamorphic image faithful to the OAR so I was very happy indeed ;D. I guess I’m just a real stickler for viewing movies as they were originally intended… so congrats to Wild East!
everyone’s got their opinions and is allowed to voice them. that also doesn’t have anything to do with “this database”, that would be unfair
But I’m pretty sure it was also just a copy (image that is) of the already existing international discs (there was like at least 4, if not 5, already, one which even has English audio although it is missing the few bits that don’t exist with English). I appreciate getting the discs as proper DVDs instead of just DVDr stuff, but the fact is that most (if not all) of Wild East’s stuff is available as fandub bootlegs (basically same quality as Franco Cleefs stuff) even months before WE gets their releases done. And the fandubs are, as far as image goes, probably better quality because they tend to keep them PAL if the source is PAL while WE re-encodes them into NTSC.
It kinda sucks that I buy releases like the Suevia disc of A Long Ride From Hell from Spain, then am able to get my hands on a fandub of it pretty soon after that (actually I’m not sure if I got one for this, but I’m sure there was one out there), then months later when it comes out I buy the WE release hoping for a better one (although it is kinda easy to figure out nowadays what their discs are going to look like ) only to get a copy of the Spanish disc with somewhat worse image quality and English dub added. And then it is even revealed that they didn’t have the rights for the release.
BUT, their releases do tend to have nice interviews etc. included which maybe even alone are worth it. And like I said I like proper DVDs. Oh and the covers are nice. And of course the collection must be complete.
I think it depends a lot on the person viewing the discs. I can nowadays notice compression issues much more easily than what I did years ago and they bother me more than used to. Seems to me like you can practice yourself to notice them better, and the same is true with other problems with the transfers.
If you have never really noticed, and haven’t tried to either, it with other discs, then maybe you won’t notice in WE discs either (if they have any, though at least a few do). Same kind of problems do happen with bigger companies as well of course. If I remember right there’s one very nasty compression problem with the MGM Death Rides A Horse. Well… nasty and nasty… it lasts like a frame or two but I can’t forget it.
No, we are not. Please, don’t give up so easily …
