Which CLASSIC TELEVISION Series 50s/60s/70s are you watching?

I have The Professionals on DVD, watch it sometimes, is it still on TV in England, the old episodes?

My favorites from 50’s to 70’s:

Monty Python’s Flying Circus
Alfred Hitchcock presents
Get Smart
Prisoner
Batman

http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=891897 :)[/quote]

I advise Forumites to STICK WITH AMAZON for their DVDs/Books/Cds etc Orders and I will explain why:

AMAZON is a world major organization with EXCELLENT CUSTOMER/After sales service
AMAZON has just refunded me without fuss/questions/delays for a LOST/Stolen packet
AMAZON is already very FAIR PRICED and can be relied to send BRAND NEW SEALED.

This DVD Pacific whatever requires you to JOIN them as a “Club member”
This DVD Pacific REFUSES to REFUND your money for lost/stolen and only offers a
“like for like replacement” after making you wait a long time, questioning and stalling.
This DVd Pacific also has numerous Postal alternatives but ALL the International
deliveries seem to be MORE EXPENSIVE than Amazon and again , trouble if its lost.

Numerous other reasons why I like to AVOID these “little known” smaller “operators”
and am quite happy 100% with the prices/postage/Customer Service/Refunds that
Amazon provides.

Those are the FACTS as I see them (totally unbiased) you all decide for yourselves

You get what you pay for! Pay a little extra at Amazon and you are also purchasing peace of mind. Buy from the little known smaller operators and you are taking a gamble. I’ve had both good and bad experiences with smaller outfits. You soon learn which ones to avoid.

Yes you have to register on their site… Big deal, what’s the problem? Amazon requires you to sign up aswell, what’s the difference.

DVDPacific certainly isn’t either little known or small. Here in Denmark I know dvd collectors who swears by them.

I must say I have had no problems dealing with them whatsoever + their is the added factor of ofcourse far lower prices + the fact that their sendings tend to get picked up in customs far less than amazon-sendings which as far as I know tend to get picked up every time due to the recognizability of their sendings.

Therefore… Go pacific… ;D

Have had no problems with amazon.co.uk or .de either though so it isn’t because I have anything against the company but for R1-titles DVDPacific is the company of choice.

Wise words Cian , you have grasped exactly what the “catch” is in these smaller undercut
“operators” what they apparently give you with one hand in advance you then LOSE
many times over with excessive postage/carriages, also charges extra per item and if
the item is lost they treat you like a “suspicious fraudster” , keep you waiting months
and then only a like for like replacement is offered (which is UNLAWFUL) as clients are
entitled BY LAW to a full refund if the goods are not satisfactory/as described/not new
or never sent/never received etc

Pacific = ??? :-\

PS> Cian I may add the “Little House On The Prairie” later on I am considering it

You are Avatardk free to go Pacific or Wherever as you please but I will NOT recommend to Ennio or anyone else what I regard as “unreliable”, “unknown”, “unlawful” operators
I am familiar with all the Majors Barnes&Noble, Amazon, Bol, CdNow etc but this
Pacific I had not ever considered as anything but a small/unreliable/bad conditions one.

Pacific MAJOR PROBLEMS (continued from previous post)

  1. If you receive a DVD that is faulty, not new, with fingerprints (having been used)
Pacific conditions state that they will only replace “same title only” if you return it
within 14 days. They refuse against the law to credit your card for a full refund.
They ask you to try cleaning a used DVD and try using another DVD player ?? ???
They impose upon the customer that he/she must email/phone for an authorisation
and no money is refunded but only after Pacific receive the return and VERIFY the
faults, only then will the same title be sent out. That could be 30 days later
You are treated like a criminally suspicious little schoolboy, who is trying it on ???

  2. Pacific do not accept a return if you have opened the item and want a 15% fee
for so called “restocking” , if you insist on a refund . ???
Pacific say “no refunds will be applied to a credit card” :'(.

  3. Pacific postage fees are complicated and what is not in dispute is that Pacific
ADD extra per each item $0.99 and $1.49 so if you order 5 or 6 items you are
already paying as much as Amazon postage and you then need to ADD the
Pacific postage that can be from $9.99 to $33.32 and more.

The whole set up STINKS worse than a Punk Rocker who only washes on leap years  ;D

If anybody wants a piece of this Pacific…well its your choice :o

I have the box set of the Professionals bought at a big discount from Amazon.co.uk even
though I am not really a fan , but I watch action/police TV series :o
I noticed some episodes were shown not on ordinary UK tv but on satellite channels like
ITV4 sky channel 120 , but the Professionals are not on now as far as I can see.
They used to be shown on UK Tv by ITV years ago.

Fair enough… My recommendation stand…

They have been very reliable in my case and I honestly have figured out their postage costs which isn’t really that complicated, but yes postage can get higher than amazon, sure, but in the end the total price paid will be a lot lower. Plus as I said, Amazon-packages get caught in customs, that (for Denmark) means an added cost of $30 + 30% of the total value of the sending (including postage)! You see my problem

Sure AvatarDK is it works out for you then do it but bear in mind what I posted and read Pacific’s Terms&Conditions for yourself.

I am familiar with customs procedures and what the customs nearly always do is this:

They do not or should not go by who is sending the parcel , the customs officer must
read and examine the C22 Green Customs form and if the value stated is UNDER
approximately £18 Uk Pounds or $35 then that is not to be charged and is allowed.
Anything over £18 or $35 net value of goods should be charged a customs fee etc.
Then the Postal service maybe Parcelforce in UK charges their fee for collecting duty and
hence it then gets expensive as you were saying. Its the Green customs form as I said

Yes what I said was that amazon’s packages (which are always clearly marked) tends to always get picked up whereas pacific’s more plain brown packages tend to go unnoticed. That’s really not so strange.

The limit is £8 (and not £18) in Denmark where I’m located so I can buy practically nothing before I’m over the limit which is a pain in the butt I’ll tell you.

Edit: But there is no argument here, I prefer pacific for my reasons, and you amazon for yours and thats fine, everybodys happy

M Squad '57 - '60 with Lee Marvin an intense noir crime drama that will never be
equaled.Frank Ballinger is a no nonsense tough cop who could deal with the criminal
element with talk, physical force or gunplay.

Johnny Stacatto '59 starring John Cassavetes as a pianist/detective in Greenwich
village surrounded by a sea of eccentrics. This show lasted only 27 episodes. Was the network out of it’s mind?

I am 100% democratic, hence as you suggest we will leave each forumite to decide

Hearing your problem AvatarDK that customs allow you only £8 ?? I am sure you heard
this advice before but what I would do is to try to order only from within the EU :o.

As I said I had a recent package from Amazon never arrive and it was lost/stolen , so
when I emailed I was extremely pleased to be treated with respect , believed and
refunded in full direct to my credit card. That matters a lot to me Good After Sales
This same principle works well when I buy major items like DVD Recorders, TVs etc.

JACK LORD 1920 - 1998 USA Leading Man Stalwart Of HAWAII FIVE-0 68-80

A Full detailed Tribute Coming Soon.

Wow!.. wish I had as much hair as JACK LORD did ;D.

I can sell you a magic “wig” Ennioo that also acts as a Viagra “substitute” $$$$$$
But you have to promise that this deal is kept only between us
I am getting it special delivery from Paci-fic
They “guarantee” that it “will work” if not you can throw it away & they keep your money ;D

Good advice but I would miss out on a lot of Region 1 (and the occasional R3) releases and I don’t want that

Watched a couple of episodes of Fawlty Towers last night with the family. Still very funny after over 30 years.

No no no no! I was only joking. Please do not list that awful, stomach churning, sentimental tripe!!!

Is it real? It looks like something that escaped from a taxidermist!
