Which CLASSIC TELEVISION Series 50s/60s/70s are you watching?

We have a cable channel here in the US called Encore and they have a Western channel. Currently they are running THE GENE AUTRY SHOW, followed by BAT MASTERSON followed by THE BIG VALLEY followed by THE RIFLEMAN. They also show CIMARRON STRIP on Saturday. These will probably change as of the new year.

I wish we could get the ENCORE channel here in Europe :’(

But alas we are NOT able to.

Wonderful TV shows on Encore being shown I must say.

Streets of San Francisco brings back some good memories, and have not seen since the original screenings.

As a kid I used to be fascinated by Karl Malden’s hat, for some unknown reason!
I think he is still alive (someone correct me)…95 years of age.

THRILLER 1973-1976 43 TV Movies Written/Created by BRIAN CLEMENS

This is widely acknowledged as the GREATEST TELEVISION ANTHOLOGY series of Films
Each of the 43 Thriller Films has a terrifying, mysterious, nerve jangling plot, superb
location settings/eerie music and the best 1970s actors from UK/USA. A WINNER forever.

My Vote for THRILLER 1973-1976 ITC 43 Films By Brian Clemens is 18.8 out of 20

Available from Amazon.co.uk

Watching now NIGHT STALKER 1972-1974 TV Series Darren McGavin Superb

All of which have great theme tunes.
The TV themes from this era were absolutely bloody marvelous. I used to look forward to watching these shows for the opening credits alone!
I’m sorry to say it seems to be a lost art now.

The only current TV show I’m watching is Lost.

And the wonderful Sopranos on DVD, watching it together with my sister, we have now reached the last season (6.2).

And of course Twin Peaks ( best of all), I will watch it together with a couple of friends over the next few weeks. This will be greaaat!

Also bought me the complete Monty Phyton’s Flying Circus, the uncomplete (fuck!) Loriot, the great german police series Der Fahnder (including several brillant episodes by Dominik Graf), and Deadwood.

A friend gave me Firefly, but I haven’t found the time yet to watch it (possibly too many SWs?).

Maybe in the near future: Riget (Lars von Trier, well, I would have bought it long ago, if the 3rd season had been made), The Rockford Files, The Prisoner (out of curiosity, never seen it), Kottan ermittelt.

Six Feet Under I have skipped after the 1st season.

That’s all for now.

Excellent shows for music, acting, plots, direction, nostalgia, cult popularity.

HAWAII FIVE-0 with the magnificent JACK LORD rip is a WORK OF ART

MAN WITH A CAMERA 1958-1960 Charles Bronson

29 episodes B/W x 28 minutes each

A very early television starring role for the Great CHARLES BRONSON who plays
a freelance photographer with a penchant for murder mysteries and solving crimes.
Charles Bronson as ever is very talented, dignified, entertaining and watchable.

I will have to track down as been wanting to see this series for a while.

I would hurry Ennio because Amazon.com have the box set with ALL the 29 episodes
but it is popular and keenly priced at around $30 :o

I tried to vote for 5 but it would allow me only 1. ???
I have, of course, been to the church to pray for you sinners, and therefore have also been obliged to partakeof a smidge of communion wine ;D, but don’t think that I’m that ‘infused’ that I’ve got this wrong. Still, ya never know.

Thanks for the tip SD, and I will do that!

Excellent idea Ennioo, I got mine from Amazon.Com also and we may compare notes
later as we view the episodes (all restored).

Yes Rev, these polls are a little unpredictable as some allow 5 some only 1 :o !!
I dont know if wine, communion and prayers would help but at least you can vote
for 1  Maybe some Forumites will develop “forum rage” if only 1 vote is allowed

Amazon.com is rarely a cheap place to buy dvds. You can have it from dvdpacific for under $20:

What??? No Little House on the Prairie??? Why isn’t it on the list? What a terrible ommission.

Actualy I voted for the $6 million dollar man. Back in the 70’s living in the south of Ireland we only had 1 TV channel on our black and white TV so we never got to see alot of stuff until many years later as re-runs. Steve Austin was one of the few series we could watch at the time so I voted for him for sentimental reasons. Hawaii 5-0 was on TV too but we were always sent to bed when it started!

Re: Jack Lord of Hawaii 5-0

Didn’t he also die prematurely? What happened to the guy?

Died from heart failure aged 77. Not too young an age to go.

Ok, I thought he died much earlier, should’ve checked first, hehe
