Excellent choice Gringo, in my personal top twenty as well. I find it a bit underappreciated so it’s always nice whenever someone else speaks highly of it.
Whenever someone brings up Petroni as a director, it is typically for Death Rides a Horse and Tepepa. This one has a great story, great cast, and plenty of action yet never gets the acclaim. I think even A Sky Full of Stars for a Roof and Life is Tough, Eh Providence? may get more attention (though maybe for different reasons) than this one does.
I wonder if the slow opening turns people off. I personally love how we only see the protagonist after about twenty minutes in, but I can understand how that would turn some people off.
