The Music of Ennio Morricone

If anyone is able to go to one of Morricone 60 year concerts before the tour ends then it is well worth it. He performs many of the best spaghetti western songs mentioned earlier on the CD list. The Soprano, Susanna Rigacci, and the Czech National Symphony orchestra are excellent.
Not bad for a man of 88!

I was at a concert yesterday claiming to play The best of Ennio Morricone. They played tracks of GBU, Duck you sucker, IUATITW, For a few Dollars more and L’Arena of The Mercenary – plus Django Unchained and Hateful 8. The rest was Once upon a time in America, Cinema Paradiso and The Mission and some others. I thought they would play the most common but I hoped for at least The Big Gundown.

Thanks for the info Sebastian! It’s always nice to explore Morricone’s other scores and that Love Revealed album is fantastic!

So who am I meeting in Berlin for this? I just bought my tickets, a bit late (so shitty seats) but hey, better than nothing

Huh, sounds like that just might actually work! Thanks!

I want that damn record now. That thing shines like “the door of a whore house” as Fonda would put it.

Very well deserved of course.

Anyone going to the Berlin show?

Haha, Ennio speaking the truth about everyone’s favourite ex-video store employee:

The man is a cretin. He just steals from others and puts it together again. There is nothing original about that. And he is not a director either. So not comparable to real Hollywood greats like John Huston, Alfred Hitchcock or Billy Wilder. They were great. Tarantino only cooks old things. He also described his films as a “trash”. Tarantino’s requests to write the music for his films, Morricone does not appreciate:

He calls out nowhere and then wants to have finished movie music within days. Which is impossible. Which makes me crazy! Because that’s just not possible. And I do not go there anymore. I told him that last time. But next time I want to be tough. Then he can me.

But what about the Oscar Morricone got for The Hateful 8? He does not think much of that, nor of the whole ceremony. In the interview, he admitted to be happy when the event was over and he was allowed to fly back to Italy. As you ask the legitimate question, why he arrived then at all.

Morricone is known for not expressing words and expressing his opinion openly. It’s not the first time Morricone has ranted about Tarantino. Shortly after Django Unchained hit the cinemas in 2012, he said he was not happy about Tarantino’s use of his music in the movie. He also did not like Django Unchained and was a pure blood orgy.
