The Last Western You Watched?

I thought the remake of 3:10 to Yuma was very good. I like American westerns for the most part, and the original 1957 3:10 with Glenn Ford was great. The new one got a bit of the Hollywood treatment with it’s main actors (Russel Crowe, Christian Bale) but I watched the original and the remake back to back and found little details in the new one, like the costumes and even some of the dialogue, where they took it directly from the 1957 version. Both are great and I recommend them if you haven’t seen them.

I really like the 3:10 To Yuma remake as well. Not seen the original one. The last Western I watched was…

Django The Bastard
Third time I watch it and it was a big letdown this time. Remembered it as much better.

I didn’t mean that there weren’t any good westerns since 76, but the genre is more or less dead since then. But there wasn’t a real western revival since then, and most of the films only work with the patterns which were set before.

But 3:10 to Yuma was one of the disappointing ones for me.

I can see why. As I said, HOLLYWOOD TREATMENT. It turns me off of a lot of films that I might otherwise like. :frowning:

I like all kind of westerns, but Mangold is not a good genre director, and he simply blew it. Could have become a great film with this cast and story, but it didn’t for me.

Castillo: Secret of Captain O’Harahttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Secreto_del_capitan_O’Hara,_El
-another early soldiers vs indians western.

Jim Jarmusch: Dead Man

Grieco: Where the Bullets Flyhttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Tutti_fratelli_nel_west…_per_parte_di_padre
-awful comedy mess with Antonio Sabato.

Kennedy: Deserterhttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Spina_dorsale_del_diavolo,_La
-Mixture of revenge film and Dirty Dozen type western. Not bad film but could be better, very good cast is little bit wasted now.

Mulargia: El Purohttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/El_Puro
-the uncut version of this little sw gem.

You are getting a few westerns viewed Bill  .

yeah, been little sick few days now and got no much anything else to do than lay on the bed and watch movies.

I watched TOM HORN. I liked it, McQueen gets pretty violent and mean at some points as for example when he shoots a dead man 4 times with his rifle.

Hope you get better soon.
I watched TOM HORN. I liked it, McQueen gets pretty violent and mean at some points as for example when he shoots a dead man 4 times with his rifle.
i really liked this, one of Mcqueens best westerns in my opinon.

I watched two today:

Death Rides Alone

A Reason to Live, a Reason to Die

I have started watching Samuel Fuller’s Forty Guns. I really like it up to now, with stunning phhotography (the opening is amazing) and quite strong violance for it’s day.

Watched Blood Money/The Stranger and the Gunfighter last night as received a better version from Videoasia (as opposed to shit Moonstone version watched before, eons ago).
I can’t say I fully enjoyed the experience, but did like the rabid preacher again. Best bit(s) for sure … besides bottoms.

Damiani: Tara Pokihttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Tara_Poki
-Watched very poor quality italian version of this rare western. Strange movie as it’s more like melodrama set in Italy at first but after 45 minutes the main character moves to America and it changes to western. Strangely Amasi Damiano directed two westerns, this one and Rope for the Bastard, two very rarely seen films.

I finished off Forty Guns today. Quite differant from normal Westerns and highly recomended.

Foskolos: Bullets don’t come backhttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Sfaires_den_gyrizoun_piso,_Oi
-Greek western or more like “greekstern” as it’s actually set in Greece. But it’s still 100% western (in spaghetti style) and damn good one, beautiful b/w photography, good directing and epic soundtrack.
