‘My name is Mallory … M means death’
weak plot
bad acting
at least a few nice shootings
German synchro. = terrible, terrible, terrible
The diction is sooo very baaad that I actually had to laugh about it a couple of times !!!
That movie is among the worst SW I’ve ever seen !!!
‘L’ultimo killer’ (Django - The last killer)
technically very good
ok plot
good acting
nice last few minutes
good, solid average material but nothing special
‘Garringo’
entertaining, hard, slightly above average western
(trailer on ‘For a few previews more’)

‘Requiescant’ (Mögen sie in Frieden ruh’n / Kill and pray)
really good SW, even though the version I watched was 13min. shortened (tape)
Lou Castel and especially Mark Damon (sinister and evil kapitalist) at their best

PALE RIDER
hm, its ok, but not so good I think. High Plains Drifter was much more better!
“Gunsmoke”
No, not the TV classic, but a fun Audie Murphy movie. Murphy plays a gunman who is hired to kill a rancher but instead ends up working with the rancher (and his beautiful daughter) to get their cattle to market. Also stars Jack Kelley (TV’s "Maverick) Very entertaining

Lo Chiamavano King (nothing really special about it except Klaus Kinsky as magnificent as always and a nice soundtrack too)
Faccia a Faccia
And a not italian one : The left-handed gun with Paul Newman a really great western.
By the way, does anyone from time to time read those messages ;D ?

‘La Belva’ (Die Bestie, The Beast)
technically alright
very boring plot
only Kinski is great
A movie you really don’t have to see (except you are a Kinski fan). I’ve seen worse though !!! Still among the worst SW ever !!!

The mark of the “Z” was in my eyes all day yesterday with this mini marathon:
“The Mark Of Zorro” (1940-Tyrone Power)
“The Mask Of Zorro” (1998-Antonio Banderas)
“The Legend Of Zorro” (2005-Banderas)
Now if only I could find a copy of “The Ghost Of Zorro” with Clayton Moore

“Unforgiven” is probably Eastwoods best american-made western.
It has a very realistic feel to it, whereas spaghettis are often more operatic and stylized.
Great directing effort by himself.

i think Highplains Drifter rocks even more, but that’s almost a spaghetti

High Plains Drifter is also good, better than Outlaw Josey Wales or Pale Rider, I think.
But like you say it’s very spaghetti-like, so maybe you can’t really compare these westerns.

Anyone heard that Clint based High Plains Drifter on Django the Bastard? I love the ending. Does he just disappear into the heat haze, or does he really disappear like a ghost?

Yes, I’ve also read that, that he based it on Django the Bastard.
Speaking of that film, haven’t seen it for many years, and I don’t have it my collection. I remember it as a pretty dull film with no atmosphere, High Plains Drifter is much better.
What do you others think?
