It maybe ‘The Nanny’ 1965 ?
Yes Aldo thats the one to the spirit of the season
Up to you mate
The description of The Nanny does have kind of a Diabolique feel, at least there’s a bathtub drowning. The actor looked French, to me, and Diabolique opens with a delivery man which this guy appears to be.
It’s worth checkin’ out - watched it recently for the first time, and I’d recommend it.
Anyway … try this one, guys.
Saturday Night Führer?
Good one! LOL
but not the title I’m after.
Possibly set during WW2 based on the phone, radio, and Hitler. A nightclub scene has actual Hitler projected(could be composite shot though), so an actor playing Hitler, at least close up, is not in the movie. It takes place outside Hitler’s inner circle with unsung, yet vital people on the periphery of the war. Somebody is visiting beret guy, he’s got info on a pad or someone is asking him to write something, he may get shot. Kind of a spy movie set in Vichy France. 1971.

I like your meticulous analytic approach, but it’s off somewhat! This is a British comedy/biography … and the ‘beret guy’ is a very well known English comic/actor. The tyrant pictured has his name in the title
I’m liking the British film trend here but as I’m unable to post screenshots currently I can’t join in!
I know this one! I’m not saying it because I don’t want the turn but I bloody know this one and I’m pleased as punch because it’s only about the third one I’ve ever known in six years, but I know this one! F*cking YES! Hooray for me! All hail me!
Wild guess here
Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall
Dad’s Army.
That’s the one - well done, El Topo ![]()
PS: This very unfunny comedy has an unlikely SW connection … what idiot thought this a good double feature ?

Thanks for the confirmation. I saw a bunch of positive comments under a YT clip of it but I thought the little I watched looked tediously boring and painful to watch. ![]()
It was just that … though the book is supposed to be funny, but thought too dirty for a mainstream film of the time. So this is just a series of semi slapstick scenes, with Jim Dale as Spike, coming over like an obnoxious twat, rather than a funny anti hero. ![]()
Thanks Aldo
I’ve seen the movie or bits of it a long time ago in TV among a serie of other British comedies like the one with John Lennon
Ok let’s try this one
They look mostly Spanish except for the guy in the middle facing to the left and he’s in conflict with the guy he’s facing, they’re both leaders. No weapons, no ship (seen), could be lifeboats, possible shipwreck (but it’s sunny, may have been rowing for a while)or exploratory mission rowed out from off-screen ship. Can’t decide whether they’re navy or non-military sailors. 1800s. I say it’s an island and the girl may live on the island, love story subplot? Post-1970s feel but pre-Pulp Fiction. 80s if I had to bet.
Maybe some Monte Christo version.
