Talk Whatever

I’ve stuck a post in there so you can post another couple :+1:

Thanks, there was some other Jamaican/reggae/black artist cover or something for the original Django (1966).

Can 't remember what it was now, or maybe I’m mixing things up. Tried google it but nothing came up.

I remember what it was now, it’s the Jamaican movie The Harder They Come (1972). The main character goes to the theater to se Django.

From Wikipedia:

The Harder They Come is a 1972 Jamaican crime film directed by Perry Henzell and co-written by Trevor D. Rhone, and starring Jimmy Cliff.[5][6] The film is most famous for its reggae soundtrack that is said to have “brought reggae to the world”.[7]

Enormously successful in Jamaica, the film also reached the international market and has been described as “possibly the most influential of Jamaican films and one of the most important films from the Caribbean”.

Plot[edit]

After Ivanhoe “Ivan” Martin’s grandmother dies, he leaves the rural country for the city of Kingston, where he is immediately conned out of all his possessions by a street vendor. Though his mother tells him that city life is hard, she suggests he might find work with a local Christian preacher.

Ivan then meets José, who takes him to see Django, a Spaghetti Western. Excited by urban life, Ivan desperately tries to get a job but is repeatedly turned away. Finally, he turns to the preacher his mother suggested, who offers him only menial jobs under the scrutiny of Longa, an older church worker.

Congrats @Max! Well done mi amico!! When I got my Associate’s degree at Community College, an email in my school account I thought was junk and trashed was actually an RVSP to the Fall graduation ceremony, and they sent me my diploma in the mail. CCP’s ceremonies are too dang long anyway, so I didn’t mind missing it.

Well done, Max.
And as someone who works for a university careers office, take it from me, with that degree you have excellent employment prospects. Everyone wants Comp Sci grads.

Hey Amigos & Amigas,

This past Wednesday through Sunday was an absolute whirlwind of hell. My gallbladder finally got to the point of where anything and everything I was eating was making me sick and my parents rushed me to the Emergency Room. After sitting all night with no sleep wondering what was going on and when they were gonna do something about it, we got word a gallstone was possibly blocking a spot in my liver so off to a room I went and a slew of tests to determine the type of surgery needed. Luckily, I only needed to have the gallbladder itself removed so we were waiting on a blood test. Finally, the operation was happening Friday afternoon and two hours later I was in recovery due to the gallbladder being extremely inflamed. I was supposed to go home on Saturday, but the surgeon was concerned I was having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics I was getting, and finally I was allowed to go home Sunday. The first two days after surgery were the worst pain wise but starting Monday I really started feeling like myself again and food started to finally taste good again. I’m still sore, but nowhere near what I was the first few days. and only have a couple more days of antibiotics. The only real killer is that I can’t have red sauce, anything spicy and acidic, and condiments like ketchup, mustard and BBQ sauce for two weeks, but I can handle it. Glad to finally be in good spirits as for a long time I was kind of teetering on depression due to not ever really knowing what would set off an attack.

It sounds like you really have been put through the shredder, amigo. I’m glad that you are now on the mend, and hope that you will continue to feel better each day. :+1:

Atleast it’s over and done with now! Glad everything went ok for you. Although I wouldn’t be happy about not being able to have tomato sauce for two weeks :joy:
