Soundtrack News

Nice for once to see a new score that isn’t simply a slight expansion of a previous release.

Definitely nice, though this is sort of a “re-release” in a way. As it originally had an LP release. Thankfully BEAT put some extensive effort into this and found a huge treasure trove of master tapes for this film.

A LPs don’t count in my world  I only do cds.

Also I can see a LP listed on www.soundtrackcollector.com but have a hard time seeing what tracks there actually are on it for this movie.

Edit: Missing info on www.soundtrackcollector.com it seems, There are apparently 9 tracks on one side of the LP so quite an expansion to 33 tracks if you already got the LP.

Digitmovies is re-releasing the …E poi lo chiamarono il magnifico soundtrack:

Same tracklist as the ‘old’ release.

I hate that MGM have their name on this … it has nothing to do with them, except now they own the rights to all United Artists films.

thanks - going to order today. Any other fairly recent SW releases you can recommend from Beat Records?

not sure I get that criticism… they have owned UA rights and brand for a long time, so they can slap their logo in it if they want. Sony also puts their name on anything that|s Columbia, or Tristar, etc…

United Artists was a special company that produced some of the most important and groundbreaking films of the 1960s and 70s … there was a type of film that you could identify as a UA movie. So, when I was a kid going to the cinema in the 70s, the United Artists logo would appear and that was a guarantee of quality.

It’s part of the history of GBU, as UA put up a large amount of the money for this production. That was a business and creative decision … so when I see a copyright holder’s name spliced onto a production that they had zero creative contribution, it pisses me off.

Imagine if Donald Trump owned United Artists’ back catalogue and every time one of their movies was released on disc or shown on TV, it was referred to as a Donald Trump production? Too repugnant to contemplate.

For anyone contemplating buying the new 3 CD edition of ‘GBU’, this info may help you to make up your minds.
Hope it helps…

I suspect that when this edition is gone, its gone for good…
I’m going to snap it up…

Just click on the image below, to enlarge the track listing…

UPDATE: I’ve just ordered it from ‘Amazon.uk’…

Loved this film, since I was a kid, and the film has been my number one movie ever since…
The purchase is a no-brainer.

Expensive…but, then again, how much is a complete soundtrack, to the best Spaghetti Western ever made, (IMHO), worth?

Il Maestro Morricone…this is, indeed, a fitting tribute to your immortal genius…

so… a re-release
edit: according to their description, it’s not exactly the same…

You could say that of course but there’s roughly 15 minutes more ‘score’ on this expanded one compared to the old one released 25 years ago  Plus it’s probably been freshened up so a re-release the same way the new blu-ray releases are re-releases of old dvd ones
