Oh, that’s sad news.
One of the more underappreciated actors in my opinion. Until you sit down and actually look at the movies he was in many people just won’t realize what a huge impact he had on the genre. RIP Clint the Stranger.
I hear you there my friend, he could play good guys and bad guys with equal effectiveness. Everything I’ve seen him in so far I’ve enjoyed his acting thoroughly. He’s loved by a lot of us here, just needs a little more hype.
R.I.P. George Martin (Francisco Martínez Celeiro).
Excellent in the two ‘Ringo’ films…as well as many other roles.
This is indeed sad news. There is no IMDb credit for George after 1975. Did he retire from acting?
Just saw on the IMDb that Jean-Paul Belmondo, the iconic action and comedy star of French genre cinema has departed this Earthly Realm at the age of 88. His health was up and down the last few years, but he maintained that vigor that served him well his whole career.
Adieu Jean-Paul, you’ll be missed, but never forgotten. RIP.
Sad news.
Saw some of his movies but I knew him mostly because comic book hero " Blueberry" was based on his image.
RIP
Strangely I assumed he was already dead. Not sure why.
Sad loss though. Definitely one of the greats of French cinema
We also lost Michael Kenneth Williams, another great actor of his decade… what a sad day…
RIP Nino Castelnuovo
One half of the greatest 60’s love story with Catherine Deneuve in Les Parapluies du Cherbourg (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg). He was also a great villain in Tempo di Massacro. RIP.
Terrible news. Omar Little was the most fascinating character in The Wire by a mile. And The Wire was full of fascinating characters.
Sad news
To answer my own question. He did retire from acting and became a land developer in America.
Thanks for doing the legwork! I had no idea what had become of him but he was a tremendous talent in the genre.
WILBUR SMITH (9 January 1933 – 13 November 2021). R.I.P.
Best-selling author, Wilbur Smith, has died aged 88. Smith was a Zambian-born South African novelist Born in Zambia, he specialised in historical fiction about international involvement in Southern Africa across four centuries, seen from the viewpoints of both black and white families.
His first novel, ‘When the Lion Feeds’, was an instant success, and led on to many other thrilling adventures, including two - ‘Shout at the Devil’, and Gold Mine’ - which were made into highly entertaining films starring Sir Roger Moore. A third novel, ‘The Dark of the Sun’ (‘The Mercenaries’), was made into a riveting movie in 1968, and starred Rod Taylor.
As a kid, I used to love reading his books, and it is a sad loss indeed, that this giant of the spectacular adventure yarn has departed. R.I.P.
Lina Wertmüller has passed away
Sidney Poitier passed away yesterday.
Iconic actor.
So did Peter Bogdanovich.
Everyone who said “Happy new year” must be feeling rather silly now.
