RIP
Friday night Kenny Rogers past away. Musical icon of country & western
“The Gambler, He broke even”; RIP to a fine singer.
I have to admit that I am not a great admirer of Kenny Rogers. However, to write something nice here, I’ll mention that Lelan Rogers, one of his brothers (I assume he had more than one, since he came from a family of eight children), produced the first two albums of the magnificent 13th Floor Elevators in 1966 and 1967. – And now let’s listen to “Islands in the Stream” – “Sail away with me, to another world …”
Bad news galore these days: Albert Uderzo, co-creator of million-selling French comic-book series Astérix, died today. He was 92 years old.
Sad news.

.
I am ashamed to say that, despite owning at least 25 Asterix books, I was not aware of Uderzo’s other work that seems influenced by the early American adventure comic artists:
Here’s him working on a western advertising character, Jim Flokers.
RIP Stuart Gordon, one of my favorite weirdo horror directors
RIP Lucia Bosé
One of my favourites, also. Coincidentally I watched Re-Animator the night before they said he died. I also have From Beyond on blu-ray. RIP
Argentinian comic-book artist Juan Giménez passed away yesterday, April 2. Giménez, an accomplished craftsman probably best known for his work on the animation feature film Heavy Metal (1981) and his collaboration with Alejandro Jodorowsky on La Caste des Méta-Barons (1992–2003), reportedly died from the effects of an infection with SARS-CoV-2. He was 76 years old.
That’s so sad news. Metabarons is one of the best series I know.
RIP Carlo Leva, assistant art director of Carlo Simi in “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. He played an important part in the design of Sad Hill Cemetery.
He also collaborated with Sergio Leone on titles such as “For a Few Dollars More” or “Once Upon a Time in the West”. Over five decades he worked on 150 other titles. In 2016 he received us at his house in Bergamasco, Italy, where he remembered his stay in Burgos in the summer of 1966.
RIP Honor Blackman
One of the iconic Bond Girls and a fine actress, RIP.
This is really crap news - I was mad about Honor Blackman. Well she had a very good innings and managed to look fantastic even as a ‘mature lady’.
Hasta luego, beauty.
She even made it to Almeria in Shalako!
RIP Iconic in the Avengers, also the oldest actress to play a Bond Girl she was 38 at the time.
I never found her very attractive, but Pussy Galore - the name alone! - is of course a classic Bond girl
R.I.P.
