Never knew who she was until now, but RIP.
One of my most favorite American actresses, Jennifer Jones, passed away this past week. She was 90, so it wasn’t a big shock or anything; but, I still found the news to be sad.
I will always remember her outstanding performance as Pearl in King Vidor’s 1946 film DUEL IN THE SUN.
You never saw SIN CITY, Ennioo?
For some reason, that surprises me. Very good movie. One of my favorites.
No never seen Chris as of yet.
Definitely recommended Ennioo…well made film with a great noir style.
Brittany was great in Spun and in some more movies, mostly in smaller roles.

Hadn’t heard about this until now. Sad news. But, as you say, at 90 a pretty good innings.
RIP :’(.
r.i.p Brittany & Jennifer.
One of my favorite RnB soul singers Teddy Pendergrass yesterday at 59 from Cancer.
Dang! That is some sad news. He had a great voice! RIP, Teddy!
Eric Rohmer died a few days ago.
I liked all his films. Some of them very much.

Hadn’t heard about that.
Thanks for posting, Stanton.
Rohmer made some impressive films.
RIP…
Not seen a single film by Eric Rohmer …must give one a try one day.
That’s the first I’d heard of the passing of Eric Rohmer.
He made some very interesting films. I have great respect for his refusal to do things other than the way he wanted to do them. The last man left clinging to the 16mm format and the freedom it entailed, using it up thru the end of the 1990’s.
As film critic and editor of Cahiers du Cinema he was one of the people chiefly responsible for altering the reputation of Alfred Hitchcock as a workman commercial film maker to an auteur to be respected.

Wow! I never heard of this until now. It is indeed sad, she was a fine actress, who also starred in that great gulity pleasure western, Duel in the Sun.
I hope I’m not tempting fate by posting this here, but it’s being widely reported that Dennis Hopper is losing his battle against prostate cancer.
Cinema will lose one of its most colourful characters if the big C wins.
I know whom I’m rooting for.
Yes. Uhm…the pictures I posted are from DUEL IN THE SUN and that was the film I mentioned.
RIP: JEAN SIMMONS. Born: 31/1/29 - Died: 22/1/10
The great Jean Simmons passed away at home last night from lung cancer. Her best role was proably in the great Black Narcissus (1947). She also starred in other classics like Hamlet (1948), The Big Country (1958) and Spartacus (1960). RIP Jean Simmons. :’(
