RIP Chen Hung-Lieh. :’( He was a great actor and I will miss him greatly. His most famous international role is probably in Come Drink With Me. One of my favorite heavies ever.[/quote]
That is truly sad news, as he was one of my favorites as well.
Yes, he was superb as Jade-Faced Tiger in King Hu’s classic, but I enjoyed him in many other films, too (i.e., THE TRAIL OF THE BROKEN BLADE, KNIGHT OF KNIGHTS, THE TWIN SWORDS, THE MAGNIFICENT TRIO, and on and on…).
A fabulous talent!
Glad you posted this–otherwise I wouldn’t have known anything about it.
Man both Paul Naschy and Chen Hung-Lieh both leave this mortal coil… what a bad week. I love Naschy and he is sorely missed. His werewolf movies are my favorite in that genre.
R.I.P. Gene Barry who passed away yesterday aged 90.
Those of us of a certain age will remember Barry fondly for his many TV shows. Most notably Bat Masterson, Burke’s Law and The Name of the Game. I guess 90 years is a good innings but still sad to see him go.
My first memories of TV programming were HAVE GUN–WILL TRAVEL, THE LONE RANGER, and Gene Barry as BAT MASTERSON.
I was very sad when I found out about his passing away on Dec. 8. I was going to post about it here, this morning, but our ol’ buddy, Phil, beat me to it.
