RIP Sergio Donati

Very sorry to hear about the iconic screen writer Sergio Donati … he seemed like a lovely guy from his interviews and was on FB for a while.

Not just famous for working with Leone, but also a collaborator on many other classic SWs .

Oh, that’s sad news. Only spaghetti western collaborator I’ve ever met personally. I have a selfie with him somewhere I think.

Very sad to hear.
Saw him speak at a screening of The Big Gundown in Venice some years back.
An interesting guy.

Aw man, I did see this a day or so ago and was hoping it was a misprint, but it’s indeed true. Very sad indeed. I remember in an interview he did a while back he said Carlo Ponti never read any of the scripts he and other genre writers submitted, and he and a few collaborators used to put off color lines on the back of the title page to see if Ponti would say anything, and never got any responses. An amusing story from a very talented man, RIP.

Ah jeez. Not the news I wanted to see today. What a legendary actor.

Delon’s passing is one of the ones I’ve dreaded happening, and now that it’s happened, I’m in a stupor. Such a graceful and wonderful actor, seamlessly going from the romantic lead to a brooding anti-hero or morally ambiguous characters; he could do it all. One of the first man crushes I had was with Delon, he had that kind of presence and aura to him. One consolation is that he’s hopefully reunited with his great love Romy Schneider. RIP to a fine actor.

KENNETH COPE, R.I.P.

Renowned stage and TV actor, Kenneth Cope, has died aged 93.

He is probably best known as playing the Ghostly ex-partner and private detective, Marty Hopkirk in the popular 1970’s British TV series, 'Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)'. He also starred in two of the ‘Carry On’ films - ‘Convenience’ and ‘Matron’.

I was lucky enough, about 20 years ago, to conduct a phone interview with Kenneth (for a local magazine), and he proved to be a perfect, amiable gentleman to chat to. He was especially proud of his participation in the ‘Carry On’ films; and was full of praise for his co-star in ‘Randall’, Mike Pratt.

That is sad news, but a good innings as they say - ‘Randall & Hopkirk’ is just an all time classic. Part of my youth and old age LoL

Never heard of this actor until now, but RIP to him, sounds like a fine fellow. I wish PBS or somebody would show more classic British TV in the States, there’s so many good actors and actresses I haven’t heard of before who did said shows. I had only heard of Z Cars as an example as a few of the performers on that show also did Doctor Who.

In America, the British title, ‘Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)’, was changed to ‘My Partner, The Ghost’…, and the series ran from 1969-1971.

R.I.P. Dame Maggie Smith, aged 89

Her list of credits was astounding, but they included ‘The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie’ (1969); the ‘Harry Potter’ films; ‘Murder By Death’ (1976); ‘Death on the Nile’ (1978); ‘California Suite’ (1978); ‘Evil Under the Sun’ (1982); ‘Clash of the Titans’ (1981); ‘Gosford Park’ (2001); and the popular BBC TV series, ‘Downton Abbey’.

Her last acting role was in the film, ‘The Miracle Club’ (2023), alongside Kathy Bates and Laura Linney.

Goodbye to a multi-talented, inspirational, and most wonderful British Film, TV, and stage actress. A legend in every way possible.

Ah Maggie Smith, one of England’s finest treasures. RIP. It’s a little funny, but in recent years I started seeing Dame Maggie strongly fitting the profile of a Handsome Woman - definitely pretty and always classy.
