Navajo Joe (MGM Region 1) soon

Hope this is a good seller for MGM.

hope so, too. Koch Media is releasing it later this year as well, also with an English audio track, btw…

Uh, that IS good news. Do you know of any extra features it may contain Sebastian. I want a substitute for my (old) SPO release but I must say I trust Koch Media more regarding quality and extras than MGM.

can’t say for sure, but judging Koch, there’ll most likely be interviews or little featurettes as usual. too early to tell

Have to agree here…think i’d rather wait for the Koch Media version also…

How about a Region 2 MGM release? Any word on that?
I can always get the region 1 of course but if they are going to release it here too (a la Sabata etc) then I will probably wait for that.

well in Germany it turned out the licensing situation is so weird, Koch is now releasing MGMs (Navajo Joe, and maybe even mercenario), but no idea what’s going on in the UK… we’ll have to see

Well, these are spaghetti westerns after all. We shouldn’t expect anything straight forward or logical should we

cool

Long time no see, y’all!

Anyway, my copy of JOE is traveling through the mail as I speak. But I hope this widescreen print has the correct audio. What I mean by that is on the Fullscreen VHS copy, (In the opening scene) The Indian-howling heard at the beginning of Morricone’s title track is extended by about 5 seconds. Perfectly matching the opening guitar-lick to the main title of the movie.

But on the widescreen print that I saw on Turner Classic Movies, the music is not extended and it doesn’t synch up with the kick of the main title. I sure hope this error was corrected for this disc.

interesting… hope so too, of course. I’m happy about that reviewer praising the quality though… my copy will probably take a little longer, haven’t gotten a shipped notice from YesAsia so far

it’s officially released! can’t wait to get this. unfortunately my order at YesAsia.com still hasn’t shipped, I hope it will soon

Not my favorite spaghetti but I’m glad to hear that others will be able to see the movie for themselves: I have one of the Stingray R2 pressings from Japan but they have been out of print for a while now. It’s definitely a different kind of spaghetti, maybe just a bit too painful and intense for me. I kind of prefer a lighter hearted approach but agree that it’s an important release that has been overdue for a while.

You are still alive  Cheers man.

Burt Reynolds laughs at the film and considers it the worst he made!

well he certainly made some ridiculous shit in his career, so…

navajo joe is definitely not one of the greatest spaghettis, but it has some awesome elements, unforgettable music and cult status… and… burt reynolds

I haven’t seen it, but it can’t be worse than the SMOKEY & THE BANDIT films which I don’t even find funny! Any Corbucci western is of interest to me.

Since there don’t seem to be any extras I’ll try to get it at BEST BUY if they have it. Squonkmatic seems to indicate it’s despressing. I thought it was on the lighter side.

Got my copy, today. Haven’t had time to sit down and watch it, yet; but, imagine I will do so before the night is over.

Interesting thing about Burt Reynolds and his opinion of NAVAJO JOE:
At the Golden Boot Awards in 2006 he talked fondly of it from the podium.
When quite a few members of the audience shouted “hooray!” at the mention of the films’ name he stopped and made some comment like, “I knew people liked that movie!”.
Later in the evening, after the Awards show was over he told some of us that NAVAJO JOE was a great experience for him and that he had a lot of fun making it and that he was disappointed that it wasn’t better received upon its initial release.

There is all of that…and then there is the fact that he makes fun of NAVAJO JOE (and Corbucci) in an autobiography he wrote back in the 70’s (or was it in the 80’s?).
But, he laughs at all of his movies in that book and makes fun of everybody!
So, you can draw your own conclusions.
