Mercenario DVD Release Special

Will there be a blu-ray i wonder, of is it just Silver Saddle for the time being?

That would be the ultimate dream.
Let me know how much to the U.K. Seb, i have problems working out amazon de.
Phil did too, he accidentally orderded two of a couple of titles, luckily i hadn’t got them yet and took them off his hands ;)
Well, that must be a software problem, as this happened to me, too. You really have to check the number of your items before pressing the “buy” button.

But it hasn’t happened the last half year, so I hope they have solved it. And of course it was no problem to give the doubles back without any costs.

Anyone got the dvd yet?

should ship this week

Phil’s review is up The Mercenary DVD Review - The Spaghetti Western Database

Got mine today. Its 3 minutes shorter than the dvd-r i got from Cultcine.

Sounds very much like pal-speedup … if the Cultcine one is uncut and in ntsc it should in fact be 4 minutes longer for it to add up.

Like Soren pointed out, there is always a difference in PAL and NTSC. All CultCine discs are in NTSC, so that one should be, like Soren said, 4 minutes longer than the Koch Media disc if it is truly uncut. But, since there is only a 3 minute difference, then I would say that the CultCine version is short anywhere from 30 seconds to a full minute.
I know all this PAL speed-up business can be extremely confusing. It took me quite awhile to figure it out for myself many years ago.

The 102 min of the Pal Mercenario are equal to 106 min in cinema or on a NTSC DVD.

I bought a Brazilian DVD of Mercenario through Ebay recently, & the sound quality was pretty awful (I had to watch it on my laptop as it was almost unlistenable through the TV speakers). So I’ll probably need to get a better copy sooner or later.

I was thinking about getting this French release Corbucci box set: http://video.fnac.com/a2725809/Coffret-Sergio-Corbucci-Western-Spaghetti-Edition-Limitee-Fnac-4-Films-DVD-Zone-2?Origin=zanox1330699

Can anyone confirm whether the new German release is significantly better quality than the French one?

Don’t know the french release but the KochMedia DVD has a good quality. But I cannot say if it’s the best release of the world. At least it
s must be much better as your Brazilian Release

The French Corbucci Box is looking promising but I already have Django, Navajo Joe and Mercenario in a good quality.

I have been in doubt which ‘Mercenary’ to order, the French or the Koch one. I finally decided to order the Koch disc, mainly because the extras seem to be more intersting. Video quality of both discs seems comparable.

For the French Navajo Joe see my review:

The French Far West story disc (Sonny and Jed) is okay, with good image & sound quality, although it’s a tiny bit on the dark side

The French Django release is (like most DVD-releases) of mediocre quality, but it has at least the original Italian soundtrack (far superior to the English one); the volume is rather low, so you’ll have to crank up the volume considerably

The box seems an interesting buy

there’s a suspicion that both are based on the same source material …

That French set seems to have suddenly sold out anyway. :-\

I think the individual DVDs are still available
The Django DVD was rereleased some time ago (bought my copy in Fnac Brussels a month ago) and the other three are recent releases.

Hey Scherp, could you confirm that “Far West Story / Sonny & Jed” has Italian audio with French subtitles. I’ve been hearing conflicting things.

I’m pretty sure, but I’ll check things later tonight

I can assure you the audio is Italian

Great, thanks! Maybe I’ll pick this one up then.
