Thanks Ennio . I like all the Ski-Action scenes in On Her Majesty Secret Service together with the great music score. They are still pretty amazing to watch. But my all time favourite 007 Action scene is the one with the parachute in The Spy who loves me!

Parachute?

Moonraker may be an awful movie, but the opening scene, Moore fighting with Kiehl over a parachute, is quite good, actually one of the better scenes of the entire series

My favourite scene is the air battle with Little Nellie from You Only live 2X

Here it is wait until the end!

For all you fans of Moonraker ;), alternative ending:

@ Parachute Paco

Sure, I thought about it one second after posting my post

Here is the “Bourne girl” Julia Stiles

Sorry Jason but the Bond Girls are looking better!

Regarding other 60s spy movies, the 077 movies starring Ken Clark have been released on DVD by Dorado Films

You could call them “spaghetti-James Bond films” since they’re Italian

Check out one of the trailers, it has a theme by Morricone, and notice the spaghetti-gunshot sounds

The guy singing seems to be the same one who did the Ringo films I believe?

I gave it another chance because somebody on the forum sustained that it was much better than I remembered (I hadn’t seen it in some fifteen years).

The film is indeed a bit better than I thought, some of the larger set pieces are well-handled and Lazenby is not as lousy as I thought he was. Actually, he seems a rather decent actor, and this sole Bond movie, must have ruined a promising career. What he lacks, is of course that touch of class and charisma that made Connery and Moore world stars, even though they weren’t considerably better actors (at least Moore wasn’t). Ironically, one sequence, set in Blofeld’s hide-out high up in the Alpes, with Lazenby and a group of silly but sex-hungry girls, works just because of Lazenby’s lack of charisma: he seems a bit confused, overwhelmed, like any man would be. Connery would’ve looked too arrogant, Moore too impassive for the scene to work. It’s a very nice sequence, well-executed, funny and erotic, but it’s also the only memorable sequence of the first seventy minutes (or so) of the movie. For more than an hour, this is a pretty dull movie, with only a fistfight here and there (I had the bizarre idea I was watching a minor Castellari film) to keep you awake. Those fistfights have been speeded up and edited so fiercely it is hard to see what is happening. And that final chase scene with bobsleighs must be one of the stupidest action scenes of the entire series. To me this remains just an average entry in the series.

I watched, by the way, the Ultimate Edition of the movie. People have been complaining that the Ultimate editions weren’t better, - and sometimes even worse - than the previous Special Editions (they had sold in many cases to be able to buy these new releases !). Overall the transfer is a bit on the dark side, with a blue veil hanging over a lot of scenes set at sunrise or sunset. What irritated me most was the fact that there’s often a significant difference in brightness between consecutive scenes: in one scene faces look grey and anemic, in the next scene they look like floating oranges.

The Ultimation Edition Version is longer than the Original or Cinema Release. There are some “unnecessary” scenes included. That’s why I think some Fans state that the Ulimate Version isn’t the best.

In fact Lazenby turned down appearing in further Bond movies, which he now regrets and what was probably the worst decision of his career.

All he was offered were grade B or C movies after that

Bad aspects of OHMSS; the sped up and exaggerated fight scenes, the film lacking any sense of real class (the luxury in this movie being more vulgar than sophisticated), absolutely no chemistry between Lazenby and Diana Rigg (the romantic scenes falls flat), Lazenby having a dubbed voice as Sir Hilary Bray (very cheesy  ), an overall mediocre cast (even if Lazenby isn’t all bad), many fake looking and/or sped up action scenes, and many weird looking shots with shaky editing.

The music, set pieces and beautiful alpine scenery is great though.

Everyone is at least a sucker once in their life.

On her Majesty Secret Service isn’t as cheesy as Diamonds are Forever. A Homosexual Killer Couple, 007 is driving a Moon Buggy … Connery was a bit fat in that too.

This is why the film is a joke for me. An agent who looks like he spends more time eating pies than catching the bad guys.

I like Lazenby!

Haha! You didn’t expect that!

I think, people hate him. But why? Ok, he’s a bit of a weenie, but that’s not his fault! There’s this love affair, the wedding, the tragic end. But that’s the idea of the writers and not Lazenby’s.

And (most importantly): He did’t get the chance to become a real Bond. He only played him once. I think if he had played him, let’s say five or six times, he simply would be Bond. People would say: Ah Lazenby is a great Bond, but this crappy Roger Moore, who’s that? (because in this scenario Moore would have played him only once)

Now, how do ya think about that?!

I like OHMSS (On her Majesty Secret Service) but Lazenby isn’t a good actor. He had the big problem to play a Role everybody was identifying with Sean Connery. For his first Role Lazenby was good enough. Roger Moore had it a bit easier. He was already known as a sort of James Bond from The Saint. As far as I know Lazenby rejected to play James Bond again. So it wasn’t the fault of the producers. Maybe he would have been better the next time and he would fly to Space instead of Roger Moore in Moonraker.
