I Just Bought … (the SW Shopping Diary)

I didn’t buy it directly from WE … but I can get a refund from the ebay dealer, or hang on to it and sell in a few years to someone that doesn’t mind crap

Thanks to all this post-traffic about Wild East being a bit lacking in quality, I got time to think I should do some experimentation.
(I’m sort of lazy, so I don’t always get round to things. I just think about them. Intellectuals would call that philosophy.)
So I took the Wild East SONNY & JED and decrypted it. Says it’s 30fps NTSC.
I have the French version called FAR WEST STORY with immaculate picture. (i.e: no Wild East picture jumps). It has Italian and French audio, and is 25fps pal. I decrypted that.
I laid up the Wild East audio against the Far West picture, and guess what. They synchronise.
They synchronised for the 20 minute chunk I tested.
So when I have some spare time from thinking about stuff, I shall do a proper edit of the English Audio onto the French picture and see if it actually works all the way through.

I also have that Tomas Milian Double feature disc, but I didn’t even bother looking at ‘Sonny & Jed’ past the opening credits, because I have a fan made dub which as you mention used the French release.

Some of these releases do sync up perfectly with their 25fps PAL originals, like 'Kill ‘em all and come back alone’, which was identical to the Spanish release, except that WE reduced the colour a bit. This didn’t even require minimal adjusting, I just placed the ripped English track onto a copy of the Spanish disc and voilà ! PS: That makes it sound simple to do ! it’s not :grinning:

Fact is there’s more than a few dubbers out there, myself included who have been upgrading WE releases with superior video quality for years … that answers an earlier question of why bother with them when I think their output mainly shit ? ( There are a few exceptions, I am happy to say ) ‘Massacre Time’ or “The Brute and the Beast’” was a nice release, which gave us a choice of two English dubs ! - that’s the kind of effort fans appreciate.

So I will buy a WE release if there are no other English options available - And to whom it may concern or is interested, I would like an English version of Robert Woods’ first Euro western, Five Thousand Dollars on One Ace (Spanish: Los Pistoleros de Arizona)

There’s a perfect BluRay of “Kill Them All and Come back Alone” from Germany, with English Audio. It’s called TOTE ALLE UND KEHR ALLEIN ZURUCK. It came out just after I’d finished subtitling the Spanish DVD. Same thing happened with GLI SPECIALISTI. So, maybe if I subtitle 5,000 DOLLARS ON THE ACE, they’ll release a BluRay just to spite me.

That one has been fansubbed, but the only English audio track I’ve heard is from an Israeli tape, which is a mess … maybe someone out there has a better version?

I just ordered this one. Hope the quality of the transfer is worth the upgrade!

Where did you order that from, MWaN?

I will be interested to hear your thoughts on this release. I have seen various dvd editions and never took the plunge. I would like to see this film.

Just ordered:

Glad I asked!

Found it myself.

Sorry, didn’t see your message! Found it on eBay. I imagine you did, too. Picture quality looks good.

By the way, there were other interesting bd (and dvd) releases too along with this. God Forgives… I Don’t, Buddy Goes West and Troublemakers at least. Haven’t got any of those yet though.

Fair enough, no worries. :+1:

Seriously thinking of buying that God Forgives… I Don’t as I looked it up on blu-ray.com and it has English audio and is region free (says so on the back cover). Thanks for the info on these, guys. Looks like it includes Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish subs.

I want this one in my collection along with BOOT HILL and ACE HIGH on Blu Ray.

Would be cool if Arrow did a Colizzi trilogy set. Although I’d only ever watch God Forgives I Don’t.

It would be VERY cool!!

It’s a brilliant film and the sequels don’t really compete but Ace High has grown on me a bit more, so maybe it’s about time I rewatched Boot Hill
