Didn’t you read the notice, Yodlaf: not for the mentally immature! -
Shhhhhhh, I managed to look sane when I ordered it
The Monster Club - Never seen it before, watched the Scorpion Blu Ray this evening which has a really nice crisp looking transfer. As far as anthologies go I thought it was average but enjoyable enough. The first story wasn’t too bad, wasn’t that gone on the second one and really enjoyed the last one with Stuart Whitman and the village of ghouls.

I like that notice.

Alone in the house with a tiger?
It happens to 19-year old Kelly. Well, she’s not entirely alone, apart from the tiger there’s also her little autistic brother, but he’s not making things easier for her. Far from it.
How did this happen? The mother of the two died a while ago and their stepfather has used her savings to turn the premises into a Safari Park (!). Kelly had planned to go to college and had put some money aside to send her brother to a special school, but the lunatic of a stepfather has stolen that money too … to buy a tiger. A hurricane is coming, so the house is barricaded from the outside to make it safe. But it becomes a real deathtrap when Kelly discovers the tiger is not in his cage, but inside the house …
Burning Bright was made in 2009 on a low budget (but with three tigers). It was barely released, but then it was picked up by a few horror freaks who thought they had seen the best thing in years; mouth to mouth publicity did the rest: Burning Bright became a horror festivals hit and today it’s referred to by some as ‘the Best Tiger vs. Autistic Kid Movie Ever Made’
Burning Bright refrains from cheap gore-effects (it’s remarkably clean in this aspect); instead it builds up characters and tension and uses the frightening premise to maximum effect. For this reason, it may look a bit slower than most contemporary horror movies, but once the cat is loose and the girl and boy are trapped, you’re hooked. It’s not perfect (it remains a low budget movie and some of those narrow escapes look a little too narrow), but it’s the kind of horror flick we’d like to see more often. Horror fans, take note (you might even be able to find the full movie on the net) And yes, that’s Meat Loaf, early on in the movie. Luckily for him the beast was still in its cage at that point.
Have a look at the trailer:

The premise sounds quite interesting.
I’ve heard good things about it on the Mondo Movie podcast too, seems I should add it to my watchlist.
While working on a couple of texts, I put myself on a horror diet over the last few days:
Twins of Evil (1971, John Hough)
The third part of the Karnstein trilogy, following The Vampire Lovers and Lust for a Vampire. Made on a shoestring (the great days of hammer were over), but with the double asset of casting the Collinson twins - former Playmates - as the twins of the title, recently orphaned teenage twin sisters who are sent to Central Europe where (as we all know) evil dwells.
The story is a mix of two motives, the witchfinder and vampire theme: Count Karstein is trying to revive his bloodsucking niece Marcilla, while Uncle Gustav (the foster father of the girls) has sworn to burn every witch at the stake. Lots of blood and nudity, at least in the uncut version (in most versions shown on TV virtually all the bloodletting and nudity was removed). Peter Cushing is as maniacal as ever as the witchfinder.
Silent Night, Bloody Deadly Night (1984, Charles Sellier)
I had never seen this infamous Christmas slasher and it seemed the right week to fill the gap. In 1984 theatres showing the film were picketed because of the subject matter: a psychopathic killer creating havoc on Christmas night, dressed like Santa Claus. Today it only seems one more slasher, not good, not bad. Enjoyable trash, with a remarkably good use of cheesy songs.
Funny I am going to watch a documentary on Twins of Evil tonight.
I’ve only seen a TV version of Twins of Evil that I suspect was cut; which is the best release of this film?

As far as I know, this Bluray.
This is the only version I’ve seen…
Silent Night, Bloody Night (1984, Charles Sellier)
Close, but no cigar. It’s SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT.
SILENT NIGHT BLOODY NIGHT is also an excellent Christmas horror film, though. Really liked the twist in that one.

Those bloody titles …
(I’ll correct things, got the title right on facebook)
FRIDAY THE 13th Part 2 (1981)
Country Bumpkin (as I lovingly refer to Jason in this sequel) ups the ante created by Momma Voorhees in the original. This time around, the most memorable kill would probably have to go to our wheelchair bound good guy Mark (who gets a machete in the face).
Amy Steel also makes for a very good final girl.
Though this is pretty much a carbon copy of the first film, it’s still worth a watch. Steve Miner handles the directorial effort well, and the cast of characters aren’t too obnoxious. You could certainly do a lot worse with a slasher sequel.
Cellar Dweller - A horror comic writer (Jeffrey Combs) in the 50’s invents a comic monster and it destroys him, move onto the 80’s and a young artist tries to continue his work and yet again it unleashes the monster. Not seen it since I was at school, I was wondering how it would stand up to another viewing, it’s an ok enough watch.
I haven’t seen that film in years. Unfortunately, I don’t remember liking it. Maybe I need to give it another day in court?

I tried to watch Dungeonmaster but it turns into this stupid scifi movie, I just couldnt take it
