Good news, dieser Gehetzte der Sierra Madre*. I have the Italian DVD, which is good, but - so they say - not as good as the Koch media DVD. Since this is one of my all-time favourites, I want to watch it in the best possible conditions.
- This reminds me (I know, completely off-topic) of ‘Sierra Madre del Sur’, a song by a German singer I nearly worshipped as a child, Ronny Berger. I still have most of his singles (Kleine Annabel, My Darling Clementine, Kenn ein Land, this Sierra Madre etc.) and a special, ancient pick-up to play them.
I think the song ‘Kenn ein Land’ is part of a soundtrack for a Sauerkraut western, but I don’t know which one. Does anybody here on the forum remember Ronny Berger, Sierra Madre, or the other songs?

This is brilliant news!! I have been waiting for ages for The Big Gundown to be released as a stand alone disc. I will be snapping this one up as soon as it is available. Well done Koch Media!
they will also get a batch of licenses from the distributor AVU, who just went belly-up, which include a slate of films that were also released by Wild East. I’ll keep you posted
Sounds very promising. Keep this good news coming please Seb
Can someone confirm something for me please concerning Koch media’s version of Blindman?
On our database it states that this release has German and italian audio only with english subs but I have just seen a copy for sale on ebay that states it has english audio.
Now, I don’t want to buy it from ebay. But the amazon.de site doesn’t give any details (that I can understand anyway with my 1970s schoolboy german).
So does it have english audio or not? I’d really rather hear Ringo’s real voice than an italian overdub.
Yes, its got the English dub.
Cool. I’ll update the info on our site then and make that purchase!
Yes Phil, Blindman has english audio, but at first I thought it had forced german subs, but you can remove these via the remote control.
Phil, there’s probably a cheaper way. I got that red n black card sleeve greek dvd of Blindman. Others have said it’s uncut, certainly looks it and a damn fine print) and there’s an option to have English audio only. I’ve seen it ( and got it off ebay, from Greece) for 3 quidish + postage which aint a lot. They’re usually on … saw em recently.
Jus’ checked - 2 sellers (I used Stelios Store S) for mine £2.90 + steeper than I thought postage, or greek-products … £3+ 2.50p+p … still a lot cheaper tho’ than some other options. This is the cover …

Sounds very much like a bootleg… Much rather that the official release was supported now that it exists Plus you get a lot of extra features that I’m sure the Greek ‘release’ doesn’t have.
It’s not a bootleg. An official Greek release. They did a whole set - about 8 in all. I’ve got most of them. They’re damn good.
Just checked - all the nudity seems ok ;D … film runs for about 100mins. No extras tho’.
What are the other movies in that set?

"RARE PROMO HIGH QUALITY GREEK DVD UNCUT " sounds pretty bootleggy to me though !?
But OK. I’ll bet my horse though that all the dvds in the Greek set are single layer dvds (cheaper to produce) which means that picture quality may be a bit worse than the Koch Media-releases which are on dual layer dvds (more bit rate -> sweet).
What other spaghetti westerns are in the Greek collection, Reverend?
Off the top of my head
Django
Django Kill
Django the Bastard
Massacre Time
Companeros
Blindman
Texas Addio
and at least one other ???
I got em for my dad, who likes a good western but was also teaching himself Greek for some reason.
Seemed to do both jobs for him, but you can turn the subs off.
‘New Star - the Spaghetti Western Collection’ is the full name of the product.
Somebody said this was the only uncut version of Blindman at the time. Checked again 101 and a bit minutes.
Too late!
But never mind, I’m happy to support Koch media on this. The other releases of theirs I’ve bought have been superb.

Never mind - worth a try. I will be supporting Koch as much as possible too, but I’ve had the greek version of Blindman for a few years now. Anyway, this info maybe of use to others.
Found another 2 at stelios’
Acquasanta Joe (no wonder I forgot it)
Keoma (how could I) :-[
Still I’m pretty sure these are bootlegs. If you check the pubisher New Star up on www.dvdaf.com you’ll see that many of their releases are marked as unauthorized. Probably all of them are. They probably got the print for Blindman from the Japanese dvd which was also uncut I believe (not sure). The same goes for the rest of their spaghetti western releases…
This isn’t a problem in my world as long as an official easy accessible release doesn’t exist, but lets face it all of their (New Star’s) spaghetti westerns are readily available elsewhere so really don’t see any point in supporting them. Lets not forget that the reason Koch Media were so long in releasing their latest spaghetti westerns were due to the fact of poor sales. Lets not make that mistake again
Just my opinion.
