[Germany] Plaion Pictures (Koch Media - Koch Films)

I understand what you are saying about these. Grey area or not, they have been around for quite a while now, and I was under the, maybe mistaken, idea that they were legit. They certainly look a quality product despite their card sleeves. Anyway I got em in good faith and my conscience is clear on this. You can only act on the information you’ve got at the time. And I certainly wasn’t going to pay the Japanese prices.
Something deep down in my memory tells me that these were an offer that you collected with a Greek newspaper - a bit like those ones we get now with the ‘sundays’. Of course I could EASILY be wrong about this. I know that there was something like this with vids in Italy. Maybe my dad read it off the back of the sleeve to show off his Greek. Anyway I hope that clouds the issue further …

Agreed. That’s part of what I meant with easily accessible. If I were to purchase Blindman before the Koch Media edition came out I’d probably had gone for the Greece deluxe paper sleeve edition aswell

Just a curiosity. What implementation ID have these Greek DVDs? For instance, KOCH release of “Spara, gringo, spara” has Daikin U.S. Comtec Lab but “Sentenza di morte” has AHEAD Nero and volume name DHXSTUDIOS_DE. One can read this information by program DVDinfo from http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

Sorry Brother djvaso, I could never be described as a techno-head and I’m afraid this is all greek to me!

It is very simple. After installation of programme, and of course inserting DVD in drive, click on button “Media” will give you these information. This programme is particularly useful for investigation of origin of DVD-/+RW discs. Sometimes “branded” discs are third class ones.

the Koch DVD later this year of Navajo Joe will contain English dub/audio

If these screenshots are what you get on your TV, there’s something wrong
The image seems squeezed a little
I’ve had that with other discs, for instance the WE Arizona Colt
It can be corrected, but it’s not always easy

didn’t see any squeezing when I watched it

Why the long wait?

I mean the box set has been out for ages at a more than reasonable price !?

Unless you’re a ‘new’ spaghetti western fan in which case you are of course excused

We have to remember that these box sets are now being price-dumped because of lack of sales which is also the reason for no more italo western box sets coming from Koch Media, so I will definitely be interested in why you haven’t purchased it before now, Loco !?

Might be a good time to stock up on these box sets though. Will probably go OOP soon and then the price will triple or quadruple …

Well, maybe for the same reason I don’t have any of these box sets yet either. The price may seem reasonable but for some of us it’s a big lump to shell out in one go. My wife is a very supportive and understanding woman but my film hoarding has to be done in discrete bits and pieces to ensure she stays that way. If I fork out Thirty or forty euros plus postage on a box set which includes the odd film I already own this equilibrium is in danger of being upset. So, a sale price clear out of these sets may be just the right time for me to slip one under the radar and convince the good woman that I have actually done the family a favour by saving them so much money on a quality product!

LOL. Good reasons, Phil, I can understand that. But hey, 30-40 euro for 3 movies IS cheap and especially for 3 genre movies (and a soundtrack cd). In Denmark A normal dvd of a new blockbuster movie costs around 25 euro when it comes out so 30-40 euro is peanuts compared.

Didn’t mean to sound too upset just wanted my point through that if noone buys these releases there aren’t gonna be anymore. The Koch Media Anthony Steffen box set was cancelled because of bad sales and if the same happens with the new Koch Media releases that people won’t buy them, because, hey 9-10 euro is a lot of money, let’s wait till they dump the price to 5 euro then the Koch Media Italo western line may be cancelled altogether. So my message is, if you gotta buy a spaghetti western today, go for the Koch Media release you are lacking in your collection.

Bargain hunting is great but a fragile branch like the Koch Media western line has to be supported so please don’t wait till that branch is broken until you make a buy.

Fair call mate.
And my point, although made jokingly, is a serious one. It is the box sets that I can’t justify on the home front. the single releases are fine and I think very well priced around 10 euros each. these I can pick off one by one without upsetting the hand brake too much.

First of all because I’m quite new at the spaghetti business.
I’ve started collecting spaghettis around ten months ago.
Secondly because I’m a relative poor student.
Thirdly because the HALLELUJA BOX was not on the top of my wishlist.
There was a bunch of other (quite expensive) stuff which had to be bought first.
The SERGIO SOLLIMA BOX for example, Bruckners book FÜR EIN PAAR LEICHEN MEHR or CEMETERY WITHOUT CROSSES just to name some of them…
And the other essential Top 20 Films had to be bought ;)…
And the other 80 spaghettis I’ve also bought in the last months…

I understand your point of view, but like Phil said it:

[quote=“Loco, post:199, topic:50”]First of all because I’m quite new at the spaghetti business.

Oh but you are excused right there. So much to get when you are starting out and mostly not knowing what exactly what to get.

Haha. Poor student my ass  But yes the Sollima Box and the Bruckner book are certainly requirements. Cemetery Without Crosses made my virtual Top 20 but oh the price-tag on that one :frowning: 80 spaghettis are a lot to buy in 10 months, I think I had 10-15 1 year into my ‘collecting’… Mind you that was before Koch Media had taken off and Wild East was a company on the rise.
