Execution (Domenico Paolella, 1968)

I liked the idea with one actor playing two guys using splitscreen-technique, the nice score and the sad ending. But except of that this movie is only average…

At first look, I found it terrible. Inconceivable bad German synchronization … with Django. The whole story makes no sense then.

The second time, I saw the movie with Italian audio and German subtitles. Then it is ok. Or let’s say average.

Django - The Bible Is No Card Game ;D.

The German title is genius!

More stupid German Django Title:

Django - His hymn was the Colt (Massacre Time)
Django - The vultures are lining (Sette dollari sul rosso)
Django - Only the Colt was his friend (Django SPARA per primo)
Django says, the night prayer (Il Suo nome gridava vendetta)

;D

Yes, viewed the Italian version and found it to be much better than expected… very entertaining and unpredictable, thought the end shootout was great as well. Turns quite violent when the head Mexican bandit gets his spiked ball out.

this is the execution film with mimmo palmara?

Yeah, he is

top crap movie…!
o out of 5

I really like this one myself. A runner up for my top 20.

Not a good one I’m afraid, at least I didn’t like it, and it had some potential to be better. A revenge story that could have been well explored, some trivial characters that could have worked mainly the two brother’s relation, and a good soundtrack.
First the secondary’s, the guy who played the Mexican bandido leader part, is a shame to the great tradition of Mexican bandits in SW, a low point in that matter for sure Fernando Sancho would not use the guy in any oh his gangs, not even for his donkey.

Then the story, such a simple one, but they still manage to put more holes in t than a Swiss cheese, its incredible that for such a simple story, I got lost sometimes in the film having some difficulty in understanding what was going one, maybe my fault of being used to more simple things, then they kill the best character (The bounty hunter) in the mid section of the film right, then our main actor, that is doing the always difficult thing of playing two parts, and gets away with the John Cooper part, but totally sucks in the other part sometimes it seemed that instead of shooting people he was trying to hypnotized them.

The action scenes are also pretty lame ones. Character motivation is another low point apart from Mimmo Palmara character, other didn’t have any at least that I’ve seen, or it appeared so fast beyond my comprehension.

My guess is that the director, with some cool flicks in his name, had seen too much Colizzi flicks but quite didn’t understand them, and this was the result, or maybe they were making two different films, one in Italy and other in Israel and for some reason they merged both.

A bad one, most Fidani’s are better jobs than this, couldn’t understand the title also.

Haven’t watched this one yet. Maybe I’d better leave it that way …

horrible movie really horrible! not even 0 stars, just a rubber chicken… :o

LOL Sartana 1968, you r a funny dude! As for the movie, yes it’s bad and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth after i watched it, but it’s not the worst either! There’s alot worst spags than this one.

I feel strange reading the majority of the comments in this thread because I just checked my list and see that I have given this movie a 7,5/10 which is a really good score for me. Wasn’t this the third film of the Django Box Set or are we talking about another movie? Don’t remember it being entertaining because of being unintentionally funny either. There’s tons of worse spaghies out there.

Yes, it was the odd 3rd in Koch’s Django box.

Actually it is not that bad. Watchable, but in parts surely a bit weak. Does not belong to the Fid/Crea company.

To be honest I prefer films like Quel maledetto giorno d’inverno… Django e Sartana all’ultimo sangue or Passa Sartana… ĆØ l’ombra della tua morte, to this one (A Crea is another league)

Yes not bad at all this one for me, I would go as far as saying better than average.

Execution, cool title. But ironically it’s a badly executed production. A boring and unispired film with a lousily constructed plot and mediocre cast. And we get 2 John RichardsonĀ“s for the price of one. Great! (not)

Gori“s music, which I like, is completely out of synch with the visuals. I can“t imagine it was composed for this film, but I could be wrong here. Fidani made it work better anyway. As he probably would have with this film, had he directed it. No, this is no joke. Paolella“s lethargic directing is, in a bizarre way, almost intrusive in its indifference.

I watched this right after Requiescant. Bad idea. It probably would have looked ok right after Finder Killers. Just ok.

The torture scenes are alright, even though the guy portraying the sadistic Mexican is one of the worst I’ve seen in any spaghetti western. And they actually put some thought in the saloon gunfight, but unfortunately it is pretty much wasted due to bad directing/editing. The Israeli settings are alright, if only for the change they provide. But that’s about it as far ast the pros are concerned.

This lousy film is no card game that’s for sure. Card games are fun, at least that’s what I’m told. 4,5/10

Just watched this and while it is not a bad film it is definitely one of the most bizarre films I have ever seen.
To say that there are plot holes in this film, or that much of it doesn’t make sense would be an understatement, imo. It’s like aliens coming to earth trying to make a spaghetti western, but being very bad at interpreting human emotions and forgetting not to use their magic/non-human powers. Maybe it could have been a good science fiction film if they had added a simple subplot with a UFO and some sort of alien infiltration in the Wild West, or some time travel stuff like in Terminator. As it is, I was just constantly shaking my head and having my mouth wide open as I stared at the screen in bewilderment. Maybe what makes the film so strange is the fact that it has on the one hand some really inventive ideas, sometimes great camerawork and inspired directorial moments, while at the same time it can switch into do-it-yourself children-shooting-an-amateur-film-in-the-backlot territory. The editing that combines all of this is incredible, and sometimes seems a bit like throwing different pieces of film in the air and thoughtlessly adding them together. Very experimental.
Maybe my favorite moment in the film (ok, second favorite after the opening scene, which is simply fantastic) came when one of the protagonists is sitting in a stagecoach that should take him somewhere with professional help (as no one ever made it through this route alone, as one character warns him before the ride), but some mysterious person (which we haven’t seen before, and won’t see again) has been following our potagonist and taken the place of the the professional escort (to do what, doesnt become clear). This swindler sits next to the stagecoach driver for some time withput being recognized as a stranger, and after the stagecoach supposedly takes a wrong turn at a lonely wooden sign in the middle of nowhere our protagonist becomes pissed, climbs up to the roof of the stagecoach, throws both guys off it (who are not surprised and seem not to care to be thrown off), and somehow crashes the stagecoach. After that the protagonist takes a horse and rides off alone in the ā€œrightā€ direction, after a short while the professional gets up and follows him (and we won’t see him again in the film). The stagecoachdriver has seemingly disappeared.
If this sounds a bit confusing to you, well it is. And much of what I wrote is my own interpretation, as maybe I simply didn’t understand what was going on and who was who. Anyways, the scene reminded me very much of the UFO-scene in Monty Pythons Life of Brian, where Brian is picked up by the aliens for a short trip, with the exception that Execution wasn’t meant to be a comedy - or at least that’s what I think.

All I can say at the end is see this film and marvel about the arbitrariness of human emotions and behaviour and the part a lot of chance meetings can play in our lives. Well now that I read this sentence, maybe Execution is one of the really rare cases of a realist approach to film, where the director has discarded unrealistic concepts like plot, motivation, consistency, logic, etc. which are only a small part in the chaotic fabric that is life itself.
