Execution (Domenico Paolella, 1968)

I agree with El Topo and Bad Lieutenant on Argentinian actor Néstor Garay as gang leader, on the other hand contrary to Korano’s film Review I find the Israeli locations fascinating and I like the ending, including the unexpected and disorientating flashback.

Original runtime of the theatrical release: 98 minutes. Rating: ALL with cuts (mace and leeches parts were shortened).

My rating: 2,5 out of 5

They are part of the gang, the trailer shows us there are more than three (1:30)

Time that i give it a try, have been avoiding it so far even if i have a copy of it

Trailer gives you the impression it’s a hellova spagh. But it’s of course only a trailor;

I’ve only seen Execution once, but my dim recollection is that I didn’t rate it. I can barely remember it though. I know that I sought out an English dub because I bought the Westerns Unchained 25-film Blu-ray and Execution is on there but it’s in Italian. Due a re-watch, I think.

I actually really enjoyed this one. The Israeli locations looked very good.

South African VHS:

It took me years to get to this movie, because so many people had told me that it was so much worse than the other two movies in the box

And guess what?

It’s not a great movie, but I enjoyed it

Awful film that as others have pointed out, often makes no sense. Some scenes incredibly inept. When Bill escapes from the Mexicans on a horse with his hands tied, most of them just ride their horses round and round rather than try and capture him. When Bill returns after donning a poncho and sombrero most of them are still just riding round and round in a circle. Very odd collection of disposed of items in that ghost town (no-one explains why it is being evacuated). Gratuitous breast exposure in one scene which comes out of nowhere (and then the woman gets blasted to death). That didn’t trouble the Italian censors who cut the torture of Bill for sm unrestricted rating (you hardly see the leeches so this looks like the cut print).

I also wondered if they had to kill off Mimmo because they needed him for Black Jack. The two films must have been shot virtually back to back. This one must have been shot first as you can see breath on actors’ mouths ( and the director of Black Jack was tied up with This Man Can’t Die until at least Feb 1968).
