Cjamango (Edoardo Mulargia, 1967)

Ha ha , right, the SW was clearly ahead of its time.

IMO a very solid SW. All you want to see in a SW is there. There are some stylish scenes and the acting is good enough. Sean Todd aka Ivan Rassimov is a good lead He reminded me on a mixture of Johnny Halliday and Clint. I love the trailer which has a tagline like a Western full of Stars. In some scenes there was a very annoying overwhelming music. I donā€™t know why but I got the feeling that some of the victims of Cjamango fell down even before they get shoot.

I watched the new Koch Media DVD. The picture quality isnā€™t the best but better than many other SW-DVDā€™s I own. Quite interesting that the Kid later became a terrorist.
Itā€™s also interesting that this very solid SW was such a success in Italy.

They probably read the script

Nice movie, but Iā€™ve seen better from Mulargia.

Thatā€™s what I call overactingā€¦

Iā€™ve been surprised,too
I guess its because Ivan was very popular there

And the winner of the Rada Rassimov lookalike contest starrs as well.

Who was it ?

Helene Chanel.

More or less it was his first big role in a SW and one of his first movie. Donā€™t think he was that famous round 1967. On the DVD itā€™s stated that the movie had a good word of mouth advertising.

ā€¦and the text is written by Cjamango himself!

Here we see what a good word of mouth recommendation is worth

Not really, it did above average box office business but wasnā€™t a blockbuster or anything.

Exactly what this movie deserves. Average SW.

Having just watched the Koch Media release of Cjamango I thought Iā€™d write a quick review.
I enjoyed it pretty much but itā€™s not a film likely to have anyone raving. Decent fun though for a film which doesnā€™t try to be anything loftier than what it is. Anyhow, hereā€™s the link to the review.

@Phil: Very good review again. I think you wrote everything which has to be written about this SW. I liked the idea with the kidā€™s explosion!

I have to disagree here, KOCH DVD is quite a dissapointment and far from their usual high standards. I think they actually used a NTSC master (Wild East DVD?) for their release and converted it to PAL. At least their release has surprisingly low detail level and rough edges appear every time when camera moves. I sold my WE DVD and bought the KOCH one which was a stupid thing to do. Even though KOCH DVD is anamorphic while WE is not, there is very little improvement in picture quality. I took few screenshots from the DVD to give everyone an idea what I mean.

Well done, Phil! If this is a quick review, Iā€™m looking forward to an elaborate one!!!

I can honestly say I didnā€™t notice any of that when I watched it.

If I remember correctly, the Wild East DVD appeared to be another of their usual PAL to NTSC conversions with the hazy ghosting prevalent throughout - I did the same thing and sold mine as soon as Koch announced their release (and have finally just ordered it) - so I hope itā€™s not from the Wild East NTSC source as you suggest. Certain players display PAL dvds weird and with ā€œstaircasingā€ on edges. As long as there is no ghosting Iā€™m sure it will be better than the Wild East versionā€¦fingers crossed that it looks good on my system!
