Wild East Productions

I’ve purchased all of mine from amazon.com. If I recall correctly they were all $19.99. Advertising a higher price than whats actually being charged? Thats marketing genius

Is probably to off set the fee of paypal. Va-voom-a-freakin-pow

Yes, but does it look better than the MGM disc in the U.K.?
Or is it the same?
You can see what happens in the night scenes in the MGM disc, too.

I’ve never been good at math… Its to offset the Paypal fee but they’re not passing it on to customer? ??? (I think the fact that several members here have noticed the higher price and decided to buy from other sources proves my point)

I have never seen the mgm disc but I have seen the xxx. The WE has better picture and audio. If you were to buy from WE during the pre order stage you will get the best price, I paid 9.99 for DRAH w/ the bronson flick. They haven’t sent me the bronson but said they will when it comes in. Why not buy from we with customer service like that?

I got them for $25 and 5$ postage

got my DRAH in the mail today. not sure when able to watch it though

there must be your best day of your life ;D

why would that be…

because you keep your best SW in the best re-released ever made

I prefer sex over sw’s. Yeah, I know I’m sick

I gotta agree with Bill on that one… I have a big picture of LVC over my bed where I can see the reflection of my TV. I have watched SWs while I’m doin’ it before… Works great!

you are not, of cours sex it’s better than movies

I watch SWs and have sex at the same time. Why can’t we have our cake and eat it too?

Just gave both a quick comparison on a 22 inch Samsung LCD and samsung dvd player with HD upscaling…

After a quick subjective comparison, I have to say they look both equally sub-standard. Both DVDs have a green tint to them, and both are rather grainy. Wild East seems to have the sharper picture, and I assume it is anamorphic, but both look like they are the exact same source. The MGM disc is grainier and a bit blurrier. As for audio, both sound rather disappointing. The Wild East has more dynamic sound, but has glitches. All in all, I would say neither is an improvement over the other. If you have the MGM, you will notice little difference to the Wild East. If you’ve never had the MGM, feel free to get the WE disc as there probably isn’t anything better. Too bad both have the green tint, makes lots of browns look green. That is distracting… the movie deserves better.

For a real objective comparison, I would love someone examine the bitrates and do exact screenshot comparisons

deserve better like blue ray release…

Cheers…will stick with my MGM disc I think.

Maybe, it all starts with the state of the source if that’s not good well no BD then. Much like what happened with Eureka’s Face to Face.

Guess it also depends on commercials points of view, how many copies can we sell ? I suppose the sales for DVD are still higher than for BD yet together they’re in decline. That doesn’t give me much hope for decent SW DVD releases in the future.

In view of all the cheap public domain editions in the USA I’m surprised that Wild East bothered with it at all. It can’t be a very profitable title for them because consumers have less money these days and are not likely to double-dip outside of the small number of really dedicated spaghetti western fans. I doubt if a Blu-ray is feasible.

In terms of picture quality, the MGM region 2 disc has the edge, I think.
But I welcome an NTSC edition in the proper pitch.
I’ve always found a high-pitched Lee Van Cleef a little unsettling.

I don’t care why they put it out. I’m just glad they did. Best version of DRAH I’ve ever seen.
