Which CLASSIC TELEVISION Series 50s/60s/70s are you watching?

How can you possibly leave The Rifleman off this list! My favorite, hands down.

There were just too many great TV shows back in the 50’s and 60’s–it is hard to pick a single favorite for me.
As for TV in the 70’s…I didn’t care for much other than shows that continued on from the 60’s (such as THE HIGH CHAPARRAL). But, I did…and still do…love the show KUNG FU!

I couldn’t really rank them in any order of preference, but here are some of my favorites, listed randomly.

THE HIGH CHAPARRAL
I SPY
THE WILD WILD WEST
TATE
THE WESTERNER
HAVE GUN–WILL TRAVEL
WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE
THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
THE RIFLEMAN
DANGER MAN (SECRET AGENT here in the States)
THE PRISONER
LAREDO
BAT MASTERSON
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE
KUNG FU
PETER GUNN
M SQUAD

“Run For Your Life” with Ben Gazzara was shear greatness. I was hooked on that show. Gazzara played a guy that was diagnosed with some terminal disease and he only had maybe a year to live. In each episode he would try some daredevil, death defying thing to do ‘before he died.’ Sort of a ‘bucket list’ type of deal. But he would also run into some type of mystery to solve along with his adventure. Or that’s the way I remember it anyway…

RIFLEMAN I agree was a good quality TV Westerns (I have the 6 Box Sets DVD) and I
noticed that in the POLL : Vote for Top 15 TV Westerns, Rifleman is there & has 2 votes.

Damn… What about ‘Dark Shadows’, ‘The Invaders’ & ‘Night Gallery’?

I like all 3 very much especially NIGHT GALLERY 70s but alas the Poll is set as you see

Speaking of classic TV shows…

I just received a parcel in the mail, today, from the wonderful actress LINDA CRISTAL (Victoria in THE HIGH CHAPARRAL!). Ms. Cristal was probably my first celebrity crush!

Linda Cristal and I have a mutual friend in Ted Markland (he portrayed Reno on THE HIGH CHAPARRAL). My amigo, Ted, told Ms. Cristal that I was a huge fan of hers. Actually, Ted told her this almost two years ago. Two years ago, I had received a package from Ms. Cristal that contained a couple of signed photos. I was ecstatic!! Of course, I never expected to receive anything else from her; so, imagine my surprise when I got this package, this morning!!

HIGH CHAPPARAL 1967-1971 CLASSIC WESTERN TV SERIES

Linda Cristal who plays Victoria

I was so excited I forgot to mention the package from Linda Cristal contained two autographed photos and a homemade CD of some Spanish songs that Ms. Cristal sang and recorded a few years ago.

I am totally jealous and envious now :o
Well done for having such good acting contacts. Linda Cristal was superb in HC/Films.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE Classic Cult TV 1965-1967 Ben Gazzara

This excellent series RUN FOR YOUR LIFE was similar to the Great FUGITIVE 63-67.

I know this post has had tumbleweeds for a while but I’ll try to revive it. I love the Twilight Zone. Great writing, intriguing stories. My favorite episode is The Howling Man.

Currently making my way through some 70s period Dr Who with Tom Baker- Genesis of the Daleks, Pyramids of Mars & The Ark in Space… haven’t seen these since the 80s… great stuff

Can’t forget about the original Outer Limits. The Sixth Finger is one of the best episodes of any genre. Other episodes like Architect Of Fear & Hundred Years Of The Dragon transcend generations with ideas of Government & paranoia. While the special effects don’t stand the test of time, the great writing & story lines do. I can only imagine with the coming fears of extra terrestrials & the Cold War, just how scary theses episode were to see back then.

Tom Baker is the best Doctor for me. Spoke to him briefly at a film fair a few years back, and is very popular amongst the fans of the series.

Definitely agreed here… Tom Baker is awesome… that’s very cool that you’ve talked with him! I’ve got an outtakes recording of him doing a commercial voice-over for something called “Symphony”, which he is just going off about how horrible it is, hilarious

Magnum PI. I know, i know, it’s painfully 80’s. But i am watching an awesome episode with Ernest Borgnine as a masked wrestler named ‘Mr. White Death’. Love this one.

Haha…i have to admit to still enjoying Magnum PI myself. Something about that theme tune always puts a smile on my face. Actually, all my old annuals from childhood are still packed away somewhere in my dad’s loft…maybe i should go round and dig them out…

I wonder if people have Magnum PI themed dinner parties…

Where presumably everyone would have to don a hawaiian shirt and fake 'tache/chestrug?
