What Is Your Favourite TV Series?

I was also a big fan of The Saint as a kid. - Does anyone remember Wiseguy with Ken Wahl? Thought that was a good one…

A few episodes (actually a lot, but I only watched a few) were shown on Belgian television recently.
I thought the show was entertaining, in a nostalgic sense, a bit like The Avengers. I liked the Saint as a kid, and I don’t how somebody who has never seen the show before will experience it as an adult. Really difficult to imagine.

I don’t think Moore ever was a great actor, but the role of Simon Templar fitted him like a glove; I reread an old Charteris while the episodes were shown, and the mental image of the Saint simply was Roger Moore (but with a bit more panache)

As a child, I was often called Simon Templar (my christian name is Simon), even though I wasn’t a saint!

Did you have a habit of seizing Muslim territory with fanatical Christian fervour? That might have explained the ‘Templar’ part of your nickname.

I lost my faith at the age of twelve (or so), too young to be a Templar

I remember as kids we were told stories about young ambitious and religious guys going to the east, to liberate the Holy Land, killing cowardice muslims by the dozens; The Crusades were still thought of as heroic events in those days.

I don’t think these days boys are told similar stories …

I bet they are in certain parts of America.

Right. Didn’t think of that

Re Baywatch

The parody Son of the Beach is more fun, anybody else seen this?

Don’t watch much TV myself, especially not nowadays

But some TV series worth mentioning are The Professionals, the cult sci-fi series Space 1999, and the WW2 drama series Secret Army

awesome show. Just a great comedy with excellent writing (and babes).

The best thing about Baywatch is that it made David Hasselhoff’s cameo in the Spongebob movie possible. It was brilliant. ;D

What parts?

I have. It was great fun!
My fave shows are: Twin Peaks, Miami Vice, Monty Python’s Flying Circus and Magnum PI

Damn - just realised I forgot all about Twin Peaks. Although it was maddening, frequently incoherent and ultimately less than the sum of its parts, it was a revolutionary piece of pop-culture.

And it introduced me to Sherilyn Fenn. Enough said.

Amen!!! I even have her picture form Twin Peaks as my avatar on the other forum

Quite a few people here prefere modern TV series to be the best, were I prefere older ones, mainly because, in my opinion, that have better a writing standard (this may not be the case in America).

Another one I forgot to add to my list. The first two series were outstanding in every respect.

While I was away in the Lake District I descovered the joys of “MAS*H”. It was so well written and acted, it’s no supprise that it ran for eleven years.

speaking of babes… Any fans of Mythbusters here…?

where’s that drooly smiley icon?
