Without a doubt DJANGO KILL.
Works for the first 25 minutes then quickly goes downhill after Lulli is shot up by Milian.
The reason for this is because the plot has no where else to go. The revenge has been satisfied.
A more interesting movie would have been if Lulli was killed by the towns folk with Milian arriving one minute too late. Then the “living dead” avenger would have reason to be stuck on earth wandering the town aimlessly. Unfinished business.
Another movie that I just don’t “get” is DAY OF ANGER.
What exactly kick started its canonization?
It works fairly well for the first 40 minutes but after the saloon burns down it becomes dull quickly.
Van Cleef shows off some of the worst acting of his career with horribly stilted lines ("who is he? Is he with us or against us?). True he had to work with what he as given but he could have made it work if he half tried.
Then there is Gemma. Love him but I don’t think he is right for this movie. Gemma is very athletic and has a macho motif about him. How and why would he allow these asshole towns people push him around like that? The role would have been more fitting for Peter Lee Lawrence.
And I just don’t buy the Gemma character falling out of grace with Van Cleef at the end. It should have been a gradual thing… he switches gears 10 minutes before the credits roll.
And then there is that embarassing holding hands shot at the very end.
THE BIG GUNDOWN: Like it but it hardly deserves all the praise.
Very episodic movie with Van Cleef and Milian running into a new kind of trouble every 10 minutes (the widow sequence was the best). Then there is a considerable lack of a BIG GUNDOWN at the end of the picture.
More like THE BIG LETDOWN if you ask me.
i don’t like the “trinity” films or the lee van cleef " sabata" and the sequel " the return of sabata" is even worse,way too much gimmickry. :

Although i don’t find them bad or anything like that, i think the following SW are somehow overpraised:
Django Kill (like someone said before, the plot after a certain point has nowhere to go, Millian doesn’t look as harsh or as vengeful as imo he should considering he did come back from the dead)
Tepepa (boring one)
Face to face (not very convincing transformation of characters)
The mercenary (it has its inspired moments and a great finale, but it also has some very slow and dull parts)
The Mercenary:
Was very excited to see this one but let down. HOWEVER, the version I saw was a VERY poor quality Direct Surce DVD that is heavily cut which gave the film a VERY disjointed feel.
Run, Man, Run:
VERY uneven and when someone does somehting that pisses you off, the hero, instead of going to get vengeance which would in turn satisfy the viewer, he goes off on some Salvation Army mission which does nothing for the plot.
The Grand Duel:
Tries VERY hard to be a cool Leoene esque Western but their atempts are sadly showing and makes the movie tedious and pretentious. Takes WAY too long to develope the plot. The intention is obviously to form mystery but just makes me more impatient.
Navajo Joe:
The lack of character developement and intro is a HUGe muddeling factor. Couldn’t give one shit who this Navajo Joe is. Didn’t even know what was really going on.
I Want Him Dead:
Does have a good atmosphere and score but it lacked scope. It was built up to be a mini epic but is toosmall scale and the sub plot is too big and detracts from the main plot.
For me it’s Cemetery Without Crosses, i’ve seen it twice and still don’t like it very much.
For me it’s Keoma.
Ok, it contains many nice scenes, but it’s not my kind of movie. I especially hate the title song. Everytime it runs during the movie I have to leave the room…
Sold a Keoma soundtrack on E.Bay last year for a nice amount ;).
Some ebayers are completely nuts

On topic: I keep trying to like Django Kill more but it doesn’t get anywhere beyond just above average for me.
I know I’m new but I’d have to say that The Great Silence is my pick. It’s not that I don’t like it but feel that it’s higher on the top 20 list than I would pick. It’s not because it’s shot all in winter (like that) or Klaus Kinski (great villain) or the non happy ending. I just don’t like the way it’s shot (or the ‘feel’ of the movie). I definitely like the fact that it goes against what one thinks a spaghetti western should be but that may also be the same thing that takes something away from it. I also agree with Django Kill… It think it tries too hard, is too over the top with the violence (& hey, who among us doesn’t like our violence) & I find myself not caring about the story after the hanging sequence. I know my opinion will not be popular & probably make me an instant outcast here but it harder to admit ‘what am I not seeing here’ when it comes to some of these ‘great’ sw’s!
