the sound of the rain actually.
Today I’ve been playing through my collection of music by John Foxx (original vocalist in Ultravox!).
Currently it’s 2020’s ‘Howl’ by John Foxx And The Maths.
In principle I am not a fan of AI generated music but I have to admit this is quite good
damn, hadn’t even noticed. scary. and I do not support it, but it is indeed quite well made, or rather, well-generated, also the images
Chet Baker was real though.
Piero Piccioni, who also did a few SW-scores, did a great score to Camille 2000 (1969). The film is so-so I think, don’t remember much of it, but the score is unforgettable.
Piero Umiliani, who also did some SW scores, participated with Chet Baker on a few scores for other kinds of films. This track is from the film Audace colpo dei soliti ignoti (1959).
Nice find. Thanks!
Smog (1962) is another film with music by Umiliani and Chet Baker, and also featuring the female jazz vocalist Helen Merrill.
Smog is a 1962 Italian comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Franco Rossi. The film is regarded as the first Italian production entirely shot in the United States.
Today I am listening to The Damned’s ‘Not Like Everybody Else’ LP (on vinyl). It’s their latest LP, just released, and it’s all cover versions. All but one of the tracks was originally released in the 1960’s. These are the first studio recordings since drummer Rat Scabies returned to the band full time. I’d have liked a new album of original recordings but I think that’ll be the next one.
This one was originally recorded by ‘Eric Burdon & The Animals’ in 1967. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfCCEfqvZG0
I had a quick listen, not bad for a covers album. The Captain sings on ‘See Emily Play’ and the non-60s track is ‘Gimme Danger’ from Iggy and The Stooges’ ‘Raw Power’. I always thought The Damned were a better and more authentic punk band than the critically adored The Clash.
I love The Damned and The Clash. And pretty much all of the original 76/77 school of punk and associated genres. Many of which are still performing and recording. And I’ve been going to see them for nearly 50 years.
Here is a piece of music by Bruno Nicolai from the film Femmine Insaziabili (1969), it’s not a eurospy movie but an early giallo type movie. Anyway great lounge style music with vocal by soprano Edda Dell’Orso, whom we all know.
