What Are You Listening to at the Moment?

@Toscano

Happy birthday! My dad is actually older than you, so you’re not ancient. Neither you nor my dad is :face_holding_back_tears:

That Finland song was sweet, thanks for sharing it.

Interesting, I didn’t know that Joe Pesci also recorded music. I like the backing band’s rendition of this Beatles classic, pretty cool bassline, not so sure about Pesci’s voice though. Paul did it better of course … :grinning:

Cool trivia: Joe was friends with The Four Seasons and is featured in that musical Jersey Boys. (I never saw it). Their famous songs: Big Girls Don’t Cry, Sherry, December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night), Can’t Take My Eyes Off You etc

I never knew ā€˜Baby Yoda’ could sing either.
EDIT: On second thoughts upon listening to that - he’s tone deaf :slightly_smiling_face:

Not so much listening, as watching and listening…

I’m the big 60 tomorrow, so watching some ā€˜fun’ Youtube clips tonight before going to bed.

Never seen ā€˜Mean Girls’, but it looks fun…I love it when the the girls kicks the music player into the guy’s gob… :joy:

The only downside to this clip…Bloody 'ell, I wish I was 20 again…

Only joking, 60 is a great age to start noting down your ailments…
For example: I didn’t feel myself this morning…for once, I had someone else to feel.

Carrying on with ā€˜Youtube’…

(Above) Once again, ā€˜Jingle Bell Rock’ - this time supplied by the amazing Brian Setzer (Stray Cats).
I love this clip, especially when the superlative Brian Setzer introduces ā€˜two vixens’…harmless fun…no woke, no PC, no put-downs, no bad intentions…just free speech - does anyone else recall when that used to be the norm?
Beautiful times, when folk didn’t have to think about every word before they spoke it, for fear of offending the man in the moon…

If you remember ā€˜Stray Cats’, then you are talking my language, and probably loved the music on ā€˜Top of the Pops’ in 1981.
If you haven’t yet discovered this amazing band, then please give it a go…

Note: ā€˜Jingle Bell Rock’ was originally sung by Bobby Helms, and featured in the opening titles to ā€˜Lethal Weapon’ (1987), starring Mel Gibson. This was a time when people were intelligent enough to make a distinction between the excellence of an actor, and his separate personal life…

(Below) Stray Cats again…at their prime in 1981.

Note: Brian Setzer (Stray Cats) played the role of Eddie Cochran in 1987’s ā€˜La Bamba’ - the biographical movie adaption of rock legend, Richie Valens.

One last song to bring me frtom 59 to 60. This is a cheerful rendition of the great Brenda Lee classic, and sung this time by 80’s British beauty, Kim Wilde (daughter of pop star, Marty Wilde), and UK comedian, Mel Smith.
At the time, Kim Wilde was every schoolboy’s idea of a heavenly angel…

This really is magic, and was so popular in the UK at the time…not sure about the USA, or whether it even had a release there? Perhaps LG (Brian) can help with that bit of info…?

Anyway…as far as I’m concerned, there’s always time for a feel-good song…
I’ve still got the record…

This was released in on 23rd November, 1987…Bloody 'ell…now I do feel old.

Anyway, amigos, thank you letting me indulge in past memories…

Been listening to a lot of Irish Rovers Christmas tunes this holiday season, their sound pumps up my Yuletide Spirit 10-fold. Also love listening to Allan Sherman’s comedy rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Oh yes … and even earlier. My little-boy infatuation with Ms. Wilde began in 1981, when ā€œKids in Americaā€ was released.

Happy birthday, Toscano!

As a small consolation: Kim Wilde turned sixty-three last month. :upside_down_face:

Many thanks, Companero…I appreciate your kind words.

Still hope for me with Kim Wilde then?

Happy birthday!

I always loved the Stray Cats (saw them live 3 times) and The Brian Setzer Orchestra (2 times). No ā€œTop of the Popsā€ here in the U.S. We had to rely on MTV back in the day when they actually played music videos.

Thank you, Brian…A friend has just treated me to a massive late morning English breakfast (brunch). Got a bottle of wine to enjoy this afternoon with a good film…

Hopefully, I’ve just discovered the perfect song list for a heart transforming from broken to healed.

Now I live for others, and myself, rather than just one other person.

Never put all your eggs in one basket…
The chances are they will all be smashed, and you will end up with the yolk being on you… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It wasn’t the cost of falling tears that got me down, it was the cost of umbrellas…Ta da!!

Anyway…

Toscano’s new ā€˜Four- Song Work-Out’ - ā€˜Rejection/ Abandonment/ Their loss/ Joy’, comin’ right up…
This sounds insane, but it actually works…

Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:

Step 4: Learning to not only survive, but also to care again, and have a laugh at the same time.

Step 5…?
Get out there and live every second and moment to the full…Grasp every opportunity, so long as it’s not the lady in the next aisle…

60 today, and loving every second. :santa: :wine_glass: :champagne:
The emojis speak for me…

Cheers Brian…God bless, and keep hitchin’ your horse up at the rails…Hope you, family, and your four-legged steeds are OK?

I went to a ā€˜Hard of Hearing’ event today, and told a few jokes…Not one bloody laugh - I think it all fell on deaf ears.

I also told a joke about grave robbers…I don’t know where I dug that one up from…

Yes, we are all well and healthy…the wife, Elsie the dog, and the horses who are currently enjoying the warm and toasty new shed we’ve spent the last eight days building for them in preparation for the winter ahead.

Enjoy your day, my friend!
