What Are You Listening to at the Moment?

Beautiful Morricone…

Your Love - Dulce Pontes, Ennio Morricone
The music theme is from the movie: Once Upon a Time in the West
The song is included on the album: Ennio Morricone & Dulce Pontes - Focus
Once Upon a Time in the West (C’era una volta il West) directed by Sergio Leone and starring Charles Bronson, Claudia Cardinale, Henry Fonda

Lyrics:
I woke and you were there
beside me in the night
you touched me and calmed my fear
turned darkness into light.

I woke and saw you there
beside me as before
my heart leapt to find you near
to feel you close once more
to feel your love once more.

Your strength has made me strong
though life tore us apart
and now when the night seems long
your love shines in my heart.

Remembering again…must be my age…trying to relive those moments as a kid by re-playing old LP’s…

As a kid, I relied on these L.P.s. I combined these with reading the novelist Frank Chandler’s ‘A Fistful of Dollars’: and Joe Millard’s ‘For A Few Dollars More’
. .
I read the novelisations before seeing the first two ‘Dollar Westerns’ on TV.
In other words, I used my own imagination at the time, before seeing the actual films!’

Before seeing the first two ‘Dollar’ Westerns, I was simply going by the paperback version version that I had read.
I was totally unprepared for actually seeing these films on the TV screen in 1979.

It was a gob-smacking moment when I the written page of a paperback transferred to a small TV in Mum and Dad’s house. It was magic!

Geoff Love’s cover versions sounded brilliant in the 1970’80’s - they still do… :cowboy_hat_face: :cactus:  :

Going to bed now…but playing this in memory of my late brother, Robin…

I’ve explained this before, in a previous post.

Probably being over-sentimental now, but the below album (which I still have) means so much to me. It represents a time when those I have now lost were still with me (family, friends etc).
It also represents a time when I never, ever thought that I would be able to grab a copy (on LP) of the original music!

Times change.
For some of us, our albums often consist simply of photos and objects…and as we get older, those items replace the loved ones that we lose.

That’s when we pick ourselves up, and look for new opportunities that will test us, tell us truths that we don’t want to hear, and sets us on a path that prepares us for the final showdown.

However…without being maudlin…Yippee Ki Yay, SWDB amigos!!

I’ve listened to “This Empty Place” by The Searchers already four times today. Love the song, I’m trying to learn it on ukulele

“And now there’s not a star left in the sky
And if you don’t come back to me, I’ll die”

Great to see The Searchers get some love, (I’m from Merseyside :joy:). I could be wrong but I have a non-blood relative who I think knew them when they were starting out. I’ll have to ask him to be sure.

I play ukulele too sometimes. I’m mostly a guitarist/bassist but I occasionally have a noodle on my ukulele or something else.

Re-living my youth…

Damn…I wish I’d been born ten years earlier than I was…(1963). I could have enjoyed it all as an adult, and been even closer to my four brothers…

Even as a kid, I had a crush on Sally Carr, the lead singer of ‘Middle of the Road’. I still have that same crush…a lovely lady.

I’ve just read this on the ‘Middle of the Road’ fan-site…

As you will be aware, Sally suffered a Brain Haemorrhage in 2012 and then a stroke one year later.

During Christmas 2016, She ventured on to the stage, singing to playback with Ken at Christmas Events organised by Chris Andrews and his wife, Alex. It was quite a step forward for her and we are really grateful to Alex and Chris for giving us the opportunity to make contact with an audience again.

It has taken Sally a considerable amount of determination and effort to return to performing live and in 2017, she began singing with the band once again. Kenny McKay, Shug Devlin and Jacek jan Komiago were keen to return to perform with Sally and they joined Ken and Sally for a couple of day’s rehearsals in Glasgow in February 2017.
It has taken Sally a considerable amount of determination and effort to return to performing live and in 2017, she began singing with the band once again.

I understand that Sally is still going strong now. Love her, ‘Middle of the Road’, and the beautiful memories that their music always reawakens in my heart and soul.

Been reading the thoughts on the ‘Talk Whatever’ thread regarding the one and only Sir Roger Moore, and his beautiful autobiographies.

It has put me in the mood for one of Elmer Bernstein’s best film scores…

‘GOLD’ (1974)

This is one of my memories from childhood…still as fresh, powerful, and wonderful now, as it was in '74, when I saw it on the Big Screen…

I found this on ‘Youtube’…extremely poignant…the dark-haired lady is Davida.
It got to me…not only John Williams exquisite music from ‘Schindler’s List’; but also to see someone realise their potential and live their dream…a magical moment indeed.

Davida Scheffers has lived her dream in winning a contest and the opportunity to play with the dutch Orchestra. Davida suffers from an extremely painful neuromuscular condition that derailed her career, and she thought she would never get to play in a professional orchestra again… The young blond lady is her daughter and was 18 years old that day.

‘To fulfill a dream is to satisfy the restless and forever turbulent soul…looking, seeking, searching, and forever demanding answers to questions which are seldom understood’

The other day i more or less accidentally bought my first LP, and it’s quite a good one to start with; Let’s Work Awhile, by Lightnin’ Hopkins, is a relative rarity.

To me, Lightning is the guitar player. His role as one of the bedrocks of modern rock music can’t be overestimated; When you hear Stevie Ray Vaughan, Grateful Dead, ZZ Top, Clapton or even Jimi Hendrix, Hopkins influence is indisputable. One of Ringo Starr’s favorite anecdotes is how as a 17-18 year old he considered emigrating to Houston just to live close to him.

I hardly think there’s anyone who can provoke feelings and moods with their playing the way Hopkins could. Whether he sang about racism, love, irritating people, alcohol or partying, he always illustrated it perfectly trough his voice and guitar in a way that ,pun intended, simply electrified you - this is what Carlos Santana calls “Collective Consciousness”.

Yeah she walks just like she got oil wells In her backyard…
Take it easy, fast life woman, 'cause you ain’t gonna live always…

Indila - Love Story

I love this song so much. It’s so beautiful yet has that sense of sadness in it. I was thinking of making SW edits with this song. I’ll probably start with W Django or A name that cried revenge
