Welcome @ElGato

Re Hello Dear Sebastian, and virtual handshake to all the other Companeros here!!

It is a great pleasure, and yes (!!); for me to be able to be here, and in the hours, days to come, learn, exchange, share knowledge, opinions, on everything that makes this ā€œnot at all desert world of Allā€ Italiana Western;;; I have, of course, already visited, a little, this ā€œā€œvirtual Saloonā€ā€, and what enriching discoveries I made!
As I announced to Sebastian a few hours ago, I am rediscovering $PAGHETTI Western with a joy, and an excitement, that I have rarely had with a Cinema genre; the SWDb site led me to immerse myself in the discovery of little gems, known or unknown, and above all to start a collection to enrich a bluray/dvd’s library; by peeling, studying all the information, data, on the site, and here, thanks to you, Companeros …

I’m ā€œthe man with no name,ā€ no no, just kidding…
My name is Didier, El gato, here, and I am from the Bordeaux region, France.
I am passionate about Film Noir, Neo Noir, but above all, thrillers French detective films, French crime films, American , Italians, from the 60s, 70s, French cinema from those same years, Melville, Sautet, Deray, Verneuil, Delon, Belmondo … War films, Les Macaroni Combat , the works of Akira Kurosawa, and of course, those of Tarantino .
Bueno, Gringo$, see you very soon, and another Great Grand Grazziazz Thank you for your Ɣ Warm welcome **

Welcome aboard! Glad to have you.

Welcome aboard, stranger.

Welcome to the ā€˜SWDB’ amigo… :cowboy_hat_face:

I just realized I never made a proper introduction! I’m Brian Christgau and I am a Spaghetti-a-holic. Have been since I was a child as saw the Leone DOLLARS trilogy on TV. This was back when the only Euro-Westerns you saw on the tube were those, A MINUTE TO PRAY… A SECOND TO DIE and THE MERCENARY occasionally popped up, and I was delighted to discover that this was an entire sub-genre. As a teenager I recall the newletter WESTERNS ALL ITALIANA, but that was pretty much the only resource on the subject.

In my 20’s I got to see movies like DJANGO and IF YOU MEET SARTANA… on VHS bootlegs that were usually copies of Japanese Laserdiscs (with hardcoded subs), but the stuff was still hard to get. You can imagine my delight at how we now have easy access to just about everything in beautiful widescreen transfers on DVD and Blu-Ray. It truly is the best time to be a Spaghetti lover!

When I’m not gobbling these films up I’m the author of the indie comic SIX-GUN GORILLA: LONG DAYS OF VENGEANCE. You might be amused to know that every chapter is named after an Italo-Western (i.e. ā€œMassacre Timeā€, ā€œThe Big Gundownā€, ā€œCemetery Without Crossesā€). For every issue, I just always happened to find a movie title that fit perfectly! On Mondays I do a livestream on YouTube called SPAGHETTI WESTERN JAMBOREE that I’ve had a blast doing.

I’m glad to be a member of this thriving community keeping the love for these films alive!

Happy Trails,

B

Oh I sure will. I am also considering getting the Arrow Vengeance Trails boxset, although here in Norway it is very expensive.

When are we gonna be guests on the jamboree? ;))

Hello, spaghetti westerners!

I’m i made it up. I’ve been a fan of spaghetti westerns since I was a kid. My old man showed me all the Dollars movies when I was in first grade, if even. My other favorite SWs are The Great Silence and Johnny Hamlet.

For roughly the past year, I have been working on a Spaghetti Western Iceberg (for those who don’t know what an iceberg is, you can think of it as a ā€œdeep diveā€ into a certain topic. An iceberg has tiers or layers where each tier represents more and more obscure facts about the said topic). My iceberg covers a wide range of facts about spaghetti westerns from the Dollars films and Leone to Garter Colt and the Carambola films.

I used the Spaghetti Western Database for a massive chunk of my research. Whenever I found something, I would check the Database as a cross-reference. So, from the bottom of my heart, thanks to everyone on here for helping me make this iceberg happen. I am pasting links to an image of the iceberg and a video where I go in-depth with it below.

I’m still no expert, so feel free to leave any comments or criticism here in the forum or on the video.

Once again, thank you all. AND VAMOS A MATAR, COMPANEROS!!

Mods, if I need to make a separate post for the iceberg, let me know lol
