That’s All, Folks!

How come ‘El Topo’ is in the voting ? Thought it was only about SW !?

‘El Topo’ is a different kind of western and not to be compared to our Top 20 SW !!!

That’s my opinion !!!

yeah guys, take el topo out, it is not a spaghetti western AT ALL

With a whopping 2 points, El Topo has quite a climb to break into the top 20. However, you’re absolutely right about it not being a Spaghetti.

BY THE POWER OF ITALIA, I STRIKE THEE DOWN, EL TOPO!

Let me know if you catch any other discrepancies.

“Sartana” and “If you meet Sartana, pray for your death” are the same film. The first in the series. Also, some one correct me if I’m wrong, “Sartana the gravedigger” and “Light the fuse, Sartana is coming” are the same as well. It’s all very confusing as each of the 4 Garko films has about half a dozen different titles.

Ooops. I’m wrong. “Sartana the gravedigger” is also “I am Sartana, your angel of death”, so no change in voting there. However, Sartana/If you meet Sartana… now has 30 points, moving it to joint 19th. I think… It’s too early in the morning…

yeah very confusing, just do a search for Sartana at the main site and you get the idea.
therefore please everyone help extending this page here:
http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Spaghetti_Western_Database:Commontitles

Yeah the titles are confusing sometimes ! For example ‘Mille dollari sul nero’ became famous in Germany under the title ‘Sartana’ and in the US under ‘1000 $ on the black’ even though the movie has nothing to with the Sartana Gianni Garko went on playing afterwards (he plays a character named Sartana in ‘Mille dollari sul nero’ very Kinski like). One can easily get mixed up with all those alternativ titles especially the Django ones. Even if there’s no Django in the movie, the producers put it in because it would sell better and bring more profit. Especially in Germany there are many movies with Django as part of the title which have nothing to do with it !!!

Haha, germans really love the name Django, I have even heard that there are films with Django in the title that aren’t even westerns, only that Franco Nero is in the film

Exactly, for example ‘Djungle Django’ has nothing to do with the Original and is just a cheap adventure movie. Only because Franco Nero is playing a major part in it they called that flic ‘Djungle Django’ even though nobody with that name appears in the movie !!!

Johnny Hamlet (Django - Die Totengräber warten schon) : What does Johnny Hamlet has to do with Django ??? The German synchro. works with Django instead of Johnny but I think it really doesn’t work !!!

There are a lot more examples I don’t wanna write down right now !!!

That’s why I prefer to mention the original Italian title first and then the English or German titles !!!

Of course one will have to know them, or it won’t work out !!!

yeah you’re talking about:
http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Uomo%2C_l’orgoglio%2C_la_vendetta%2C_L’

A guy made a page for that: http://www.una-bara-per-django.de

well that page is far from complete

I have also heard about Djungle Django before, hehe.

Regarding the Sartana films, I think a few people (myself included) have trouble telling which ones are which. I used imdb.com, dvd-basen.dk, and a couple other sites to make sure points were awarded to the correct films.

However, there’s always room for error (especially when one doesn’t speak Italian!).

The SWDB/we should also create a site with all the Django titles ,or ?

yeah the link i posted above with the common titles aims a bit in that direction but yeah, we should make these pages you’re right

so how many do we have now? enough to make the list final? would be cool to have the list ready soon so I have a reason to spam people and tell them we have a “canon” of worthy spaghettis
