If we make a top 40 these 20 would automatically be named. And at the same moment we can also see how they relate to the usual suspects.
Another interesting aspect of a top 40 is to see which of the classics are not in a top 40 of an aficionado.

True. But I wonder if these other 20 would get lost in a bigger list still dominated by the ‘usual suspects’. An alternative Top 20 would be designed purely to highlight these other films.
30 sounds like a good compromise to me, it would include a few more of the runners up…
I think it would be better to wait with this “ultimate” list of yours Stanton
Better to do this in a few years time when even more SWs are out on DVD, even Black Jack maybe
Then perhaps also more people have seen around 200 SWs
I just thought it could be fun to replace the current top 20 with a list counted from scratch, and extend it to 30 or so
But if you don’t want this, well then we’ll just have to forget about it, since you’re the one doing the maths
we can just do it parallel and then compare the results and decide afterwards which list we like better
Yes maybe your OUATITW will slip down even further :’( (
)
I also think allowing Eurowesterns would be a nice addition to a new SWDB combined Spaghetti/Euro Western Top 30
Maybe some of those will be runner-up at least?
But let Stanton decide, he’s in charge of this
Well, the top 20 as it is, is a forum voting, and I can make offers or bring in ideas, just like everyone, but I don’t decide it.
It’s a forum thing for the database (and for our fun of course), the members decide.
well there’s not reason we couldn’t follow through with a few different ideas and then see what the results are
Just updated the top 20 page
Looks like its the old list, here was the update http://www.spaghetti-western.net/forum/index.php/topic,190.msg50087.html#msg50087
Oh, sorry, i was confused by the link that was given in the top20 page. I will fix it right away
Ok, it’s updated now
Thanks Alk0, this was a terrible week, didn’t find time for anything, didn’t even get enough sleep.
Let me know when you’ll make another version of top 20, it’s easier for me to update it using the old version of top 20 page, than doing it from the scratch
But you can always copy the older versions back. Or not?
Yeah, but it’s still easier when i don’t have to do that ![]()
As somebody who is brand new to this site & fairly new to Spaghetti Westerns, I think it would be more interesting to see a top 20 overrated & a top 20 underrated list. If a title appears on several underrated lists, than it would make more sense if that title appeared on someones top 20 overall. Not someone trying to put an obscure title or 2 on their list to make them unique.
Check the Great Spaghetti Westerns You don’t like, and Underrated Spaghetti Westerns threads. They may be deep in the pages but it’ll help man.
I’m watching Easy Rider now so don’t worry if I say man a lot. It’s getting stuck in my head man.
How popular are the films of some of the more famous directors?
An overview for entertainment purposes:
Looking down the list on the original post, I can’t help but wonder if it is very heavily influenced by DVD availability in the countries of the majority of visitors to the forum?
Nevertheless it is still an incredibly useful resource and it’s good to see how people’s opinions differ.
I think DVD availability has SOME influence over people’s picks, as u cant pick movies you’ve never seen. TV availability is also an argument therefore…
but there are movies in these lists that are not readiliy available on DVD. which shows that no dvd availablility is not always stopping people to see a movie that’s supposed to be great (mercenario etc)
