Like you say the non LVC dub :P.
I thought he sounded strange. Did he not dub himself?
No or Jack Palance.
no objections here…
My non-Leone top 20, because let’s face it- the Leone’s are a given. In no particular order, as it was hard enough to pick 20. Was hesitant to post a list before watching some titles I haven’t gotten to, and re-watching others which I think may qualify.
The Great Silence
Django
Navajo Joe
The Mercenary
Companeros
Bullet for The General
God’s Gun
They Call Me Hallelujah
Fistful of Lead
Fighting Fists of Shanghai Joe
Keoma
Johnny Hamlet
Death Rides a Horse
Shango
Django, Prepare a Coffin/Viva Django
Shoot, Gringo… Shoot!
Yankee
Killer Kid
7 Dollars On The Red
Face to Face
Oh please, please, please
do it with the Leone films, otherwise I can’t count it properly for our forum voting, which shouldn’t exclude any SWs (except those one hasn’t seen of course, but will try to see if he lives long enough, the small odd remainders of the 500+ or so) for whatever reasons.
If the films of the Lion king occupy # 1 to 5, well, then they do and then it is fair and it should be documented.
And, and … after all the work done (coupled with theoretical principles, sleepless nights of inner questioning and lots of coffee and sweat) to cut them down to 20, it’s only a small step more to make the list perfect by bringing it in an order. Sometimes the world simply needs order.
my world is at home in the chaos ![]()
i will try to revise my list and post later today… off to work for now
Take your time. It’s an important task.
As I finished my initial revision of my top 20 list, I realized that perhaps my first list should remain un-counted. I finished re-ordering, including Leone films, and it just did not feel right. My first list was more of a personalized top 20, not necessarily 20 of the best films in the genre based on quality. Once I included the Leones, the list just didn’t work, because it forces me to add a dimension of judgment that I was ignoring- which is the importance & quality of the film as a whole, and not just my personal enjoyment. Rightly so, being that is topic is for the purpose of the Official Top 20, which I’m assuming will be used as a reference point for the best quality films of the genre. So long story short, back to the drawing board- and perhaps we should have a separate thread for the top 20 we personally have attachment to, rather than the top 20 we consider the best films
I disagree if you love a certain film it shouldn’t make you rearrange your list because someone says XYZ Film it is “great”. My top twenty may change but it’s based on my preferences not the opinions of others.
Well I’m not so much changing my list based on the opinions of others… I may realize that a certain film is of higher quality and has more importance, but that doesn’t necessarily mean its on my personal top 20. There are many spaghettis that I will choose to watch over the Leones any day of the week, and for this reason they will sit higher on my personal list. I don’t however, consider them as a higher quality film than the Leones, or more important, so if we’re making a list based on these factors- then my list must change. I guess I have a somewhat muddled view when it comes to these kinds of things, its always hard to choose my favorite of anything- I tend to categorize more than prioritize (not quite the right wording there…)
no biggie. I hear ya.
No, no, no, we are talking about your personal top 20, the 20 films you most like (at the moment), your island Spags.
We had discussions in this thread about this before, and I believe the consensus of opinion was that the forum’s top 20 is about the films we love most.
Which is btw more interesting than to ask about films we consider as good (but anyhow don’t enjoy that much).
At best, these 2 sorts of lists should be nearly identical.
The motto of our voting is FUN.
(Serious fun, but still fun)
alright then, that shouldn’t be too hard.
Still working on catching up on a lot of these threads, lots of reading to do… guess I shoulda waded through this one in its entirety first

Cheers bro for including the mighty Hallelujah and Fistful of lead on your top-list!
Hallelujah is almost perfect, 2nd favourite Carnimeo flick after Light the fuse…
And the duel between Hilton and Southwood in Fistful of lead is so cool…another great one from Carnimeo.
I wish I would someday take the time to accurately rate my tops like Shobary.
Yes, these are definitely favorites to stay on my list. Very fine spaghetti indeed ![]()
I’ve just caught up a good ways into this topic, and lesson learned… sorry for taking up a good pages worth with ground that’s already been covered. Really need to start reading topics from the beginning, rather than backwards…
Now that I have a better understanding of how this all works, I’ll be back with my actual ordered list a bit later
