Interesting post stanton. How did you get all the info for it?
By doing the evaluation of the top 20 lists maybe?
Right!
That was pretty funny
Yeah Yeah Yeah ha ha :-[
Keep up the good work Stanton!
Maybe an additional list of films that have a decent release but still have no votes at all? There must be some of those too?
EDIT: Of course some of the films on your “the more famous directors” list already have zero votes, but put those, along with other films that have zero votes but have an ok release, on the same list.
For example there is a nice Japanese print of In a Colt’s Shadow, but that film doesn’t have any votes here yet.
Hope this makes sense, anyway it could be an interesting list I think
Great work Stanton.
Silver, your number 17, “15 Scaffolds For a Killer” sounds like a great title! I want to check that out now.
Yeah! I have heard of it and I want a copy of it. What copy is yours of? Any DVD-R’s

You should! It’s a good little film…but then again i am biased Unfortunately as far as i know it’s only available as a very poor quality english language dvdr (with TWO sets of subs!) and a proper good quality Spanish release with Spanish audio only (both if which i have)… This film really needs a decent release with english audio too…or at least subs…

Such a list would require to have the overview about all SWs which have got the honour of a decent DVD release.
I could only make a list of films which would deserve (only imo of course) some tiny little points.
Here are some more prolific directors, whose films are obviously not that prominent amongst us fans:
114 Black Jack Baldanello, Gianfranco 5
126 This Man Can’t Die Baldanello, Gianfranco 1
out of 6 (and 2 half-westerns)
57 Django the Bastard Garrone, Sergio 31
106 No Room to Die Garrone, Sergio 7
out of 6
51 Cut Throats Nine Marchent, Joaquin Luis Rom. 37
out of 14 (including some Zorro’s)
80 Garringo Marchent, Rafael Romero 14
out of 13 (including some half-westerns)
39 El Puro Mulargia, Edoardo 49
out of 9
74 Shoot the Living and Pray for the Dead Vari, Giuseppe 19
out of 7
Federico Fellini
none out of 0 SWs (including 0 half-westerns)
There is a lot of info in the database regarding DVD releases
I could put together this list myself since it doesn’t require any counting, but since you’re doing these lists you could publish my idea aswell if you want to?
ahemm … feel free to do it … ;D
I read your first comment “sounds like work” hehe
Well you don’t have to, maybe I’ll do it myself
ups
I’m interested in replacing the current top 20 because that one was done some years ago, a lot of films have been released since and are readily available, but only a few people have updated their lists.
Back then people probably voted mainly for what was available at that time on DVD.
What about Lindberg’s suggestion?
Should we stay to our present system by including every list which was posted in this thread?
Or should we try to get a more actual list, which represents the taste of the current forum members?
What about members who have deleted their forum account?
I don’t think that the top20 has to reflect just active members favorite films, frequent visitors should count too.
Coming back to my old question two posts above.
What about the lists of ex members whose accounts are deleted?
Many of these older lists were done under the wrong impression to prepare a list of the best SWs, instead of the personal favourites we are asking for.
And it’s time for some new lists as there are so many new members …
It would be interesting to take a new start, so to count only (new) lists of actual members
We’d be forced to make a new personal list and what’s more, to reconsider our own preferences
I plan to make a new list, and to do it carefully, deliberately
(And I extend my list to - I think - 30 titles)
I think it should be started again from scratch.
Many of the old lists were compiled at a time when there weren’t many SWs readily available. Now that there are so many SWs on DVD an all-new chart would be far more accurate & include many of the lesser-known.
I’m almost ready to post my first rough list, after I watch one or two more key films that I’ve not seen yet. I’ll probably post a top 40 or 50 in case the idea of having a larger chart comes into effect - something I hope will happen.
Could perhaps be a fun project for next year, to start from scratch and expand the list to at least a top 30?
And also allow Eurowesterns to be included?
