Nope, I change my contribution only, when I post it here, just like everybody else.
But it is true, my actual list was posted quite a few years ago. Actually I wanted to change it after the “Hate Is My God” Blu has been released, only that hasn’t happened yet. It was announced (I think) in 2014, but it seem like it happen this year …
But there won’t be much changes since that list from 2012 (really so long ago?). It could now be something like this:
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Good, the Bad, the Ugly
The Mercenary
The Great Silence
My Name is Nobody
Cemetery Without Crosses
El Puro
A Fistful of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More
Companeros
Django
Boot Hill
The Last Killer
Duel in the Eclipse
Blindman
God Forgives…I Don’t
Duck, You Sucker! / A Fistful of Dynamite
Matalo!
Hate Is My God
A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die
Some more:
A Bullet for the General
Django Kill…If You Live, Shoot!
A Stranger in Town
The Big Gundown
Run Man, Run
A Bullet for Sandoval
Ace High
10 000 Dollars Blood Money
The Specialists
The Stranger Returns
They Call Me Hallelujah / Heads I Kill You, Tails You Die
John the Bastard
The Return of Ringo
My impression is that people here agree more or less on ten films or so, then go on in entire different directions. If it is a lot of work, forget it. But if not, it would be kind of interesting to know if there is such a thing as one top 20 (ranking disregarded) supported by two (or more) people here, and if so, what is that list?
And Run Man Run now only 2 points above the drop.
With the Sartana set out there now I suspect RMR will drop out next year. Maybe time for everyone to revisit it and see if our opinions change.
The Sartana set hasn’t done anything for the ranking so far, all 4 films are more or less at the same position as 2 years ago. The German release of A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die also did not push the film. It seems meanwhile the fans already know their Spags …
Yes, and no.
Requiem for a Gringo had already climbed from # 100 in 2010 to # 73 in 2013, and then to # 67 in 2017. And stays now at # 59.
But I don’t know when WE released the DVD.
A look at the amount of points already tells this. GBU has about twice as much points as the 3 Spags ranked between # 5 and # 7, and RMR at # 20 only about 10 % of GBU.
At the moment I have no idea how to do this easily, unless I would compare every list with every other list.
Just about every spag I buy on blu-ray enjoys a bump up my personal list of favourites as a result. I must have watched that Eureka presentation of Duck, You Sucker four or five times on the bounce. I hadn’t bothered with it prior to that release in years and years, despite having it sat on my DVD shelf that entire time. Same story to a less extreme degree with The Great Silence and The Grand Duel too (not that The Grand Duel made it all the way into my top 20 but it still made a leap).
That said, Run Man Run is a very average picture imho. I mean I’d still snap it up if Arrow released it tomorrow but it would have to come with a free blow-job for me to rate it any higher than I do presently.
I’ve seen around 70 spaghetti westerns (including all the so-called ‘greats’).
I know I’m a little late to this party, but this is my top 20:
GBU
OUATITW
Death Rides A Horse
The Big Gundown
Companeros
For A Few Dollars More
Tepepa
Run Man Run!
El Puro
Return Of Ringo
Face To Face
Cemetery Without Crosses
Django Kill If You Live Shoot!
Fistful Of Dollars
Arizona Colt
The Great Silence
The Bounty Killer
The Grand Duel
Massacre Time
Sabata
