good. at least I hope so. i dont get the point of making a collection and then excluding some from it. i mean finanically yeah, but quien sabe and the big gundown are in the collection, you can hardly match the quality of these two…
Titles like “Man of the East”, “Navajo Joe” and “Mercenario” are a little more expensive compared to films like “Quien sabe”
I understand that, but even though the rainbow colors of the new collection might put the average buyer off, I’m not sure if I’m convinced that releasing them separately will bring significantly higher sales. A Blindman-style packaging of ‘big gundown’ might increase sales on that one too, yet it was left inside the collection…

Thanks for the heads up. I’m really looking forward to Fury…see how it compares with the Spanish release. And intrigued about this restored ending. Of course i’ll have to get the Ringo films again! (That’ll be 3 copies of Return…). And Navajo Joe since i’d rather have the Koch one than MGM… Personally i kind of wish they’d do a really nice version of Johnny Yuma…but they’re still doing a fine job…

On the Spencer/Hill forum is Il mercenario meanwhile announced as Koch release for spring 2009 (together with Navajo Joe, Return of Ringo aaaaaand Silver Saddle).
Jubilation - fireworks - rockets - bell ringing - dancing in the streets - blast your homes etcetcetc
And for this one I HOPE that it will be released outside the collection as Digi, similar to the SW collection precedessors.
personally, and I’ve said that before, I think the outside releases somehow make the collection appear “inferior” and I much rather see this rainbow go all through my dvd shelf… but yeah… fireworks indeed

I also wonder, sometimes not even the German dub is complete on the Koch discs, just like the English dub on other companies discs.
It seems only the Italian dialogue exists for the complete versions, but is this true also for Spanish and French releases, do the dialogue occassionally drop out?
Anybody know?
The older Digis were more expensive, but also more beautiful, well, in fact they belong to the most beautiful DVDs in my collection.
But Navajo Joe would be ok for me inside the SW collection.
Il mercenario deserves a special treatment.

You have to know that nearly all german SWs releases were cut by the distributors. So a complete german dub is a rarity.
Even worser is that so many were dubbed without caring for the original version. Ha ha a dubious way of being “creative”.
So most of them I only watch in italian with german subs (if the subs are a translation of the italian version, like on most Koch DVDs)
It seems the distributors weren’t happy if they couldn’t cut out at least a few seconds of talk. Often the cuts don’t make any sense.
Theatrical german versions of SWs, that’s disaster area.
absolutely, unfortunately. English dubs are at times absolutely excellent (for example the dub on “ringo the lone rider”), but even the bad ones at least stay true to the serious tone of these films usually - as opposed to the german dubs which in the majority of cases just made the films sound funnier than they are
Yes watching them in Italian is the best way, it’s also irritating when the dialogue switches back and forth.
Unfortunately I don’t really like the sound of Italian :
The German dubs sometimes sound terrible, you know what I mean, but sometimes they’re quite ok.
But my initial question was also, are the French and Spanish dubs for SWs complete or incomplete?

You can say that again. We’re talking double-disc release with 15 hours of extra material and a complementary ‘set’ of matches
You can’t mean that !? I think Italian has a wonderful tone to it. Only understand the occasional word but I like the sound of it.
Watch all Italian movies in Italian if I have the choice …
haha set of matches when you open the digipak there should be the sound of allessandroni whistling the mercenary theme

French is OK, Spanish is rough to my ears.
