Top 10 Spaghetti Western Actors

Thanks Stanton , I appreciate you reminding me.

George Eastman made about 13 SWs and many good Horror/Exploitation Films.

I have now got him in at number 13 :o

Why then include people like Eastwood and Lou Castel on your list? They both made only three spaghetti westerns whereas Bronson made 4 (or did I forget one?). Not questioning your list, only your reasoning

Thanks Avatar, you analysis makes good sense and I have now added at number 9

CHARLES BRONSON RIP GREAT Film Star of Westerns, Thrillers, Horror, Adventure.

Every time I watch Charles Bronson’s magnificent DEATH WISH Films I cheer and clap
when Charles dispatches the filthy street scum gangs and the low life :D.

Charles Bronson’s Westerns were timeless classics especially his glorious heroic role in

ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST 1969

I have not included Henry Fonda as he only made 2 SWs (?) but I am a big fan of his.

@ Sartana Django: And what about Tony Anthony?

Or Klaus Kinski? He has millions of fans in Holland, you know. I’d say he’s almost as important as Peter Lee Lawrence :o
By the way, this of course is wrong:
13. JEFF CAMERON
GEORGE EASTMAN

  1. HUNT POWERS
It should be:

  2. JEFF CAMERON
    GEORGE EASTMAN

  3. HUNT POWERS
You can’t have more than 20 names in a top 20.

Thanks Alko, I like Tony Anthony of course and his films but I think maybe I rate him
just outside my TOP 20 , maybe number 24 :o

Hi Bad Lt , as you well know NOBODY is as important as PETER LEE LAWRENCE :o
but I am sure Millions of fans all over Europe have enjoyed Klaus Kinski’s many varied
supporting roles in countless excellent Westerns, SWs, Giallos, Thrillers etc.

My TOP 10 Spaghetti Actors is really based on LEADING MEN , so I have not included
supporting actors even though I appreciate their work very much. Kinski is support 4 me

MY TOP 10 SW Leading Men I expanded to a “top 20” and I reserve the right to have
JOINT numbers eg. 13 > Jeff Cameron George Eastman , I do “cheat” occasionally ;D
but I take your point IF my TOP 20 had to count for scoring I would have ONLY 20

ROBERT HUNDAR seems to be a leading actor in many great SWs.

He needs some coverage and appreciation I feel.
ROBERT HUNDAR seems to be a leading actor in many great SWs.
Familiar actor from many good early sw’s. I like his face. I think he’s very convincing playing villains or anti-heroes as in Cutthroats nine. He also has short but very memorable role in Fighting fist of Shanghai Joe as Pedro the Cannibal (gotta love that name :D)

ROBERT HUNDAR is not one I have seen in many yet (but have a couple in backlog I think), and yes he has an interesting face.

He was a good baddie (as Ramon himself) in Ramon the Mexican.

ROBERT HUNDAR 1935 Is an Italian Leading Man Birth Name of Claudio Ungari.

Robert Hundar is number 11 in my all time List of TOP 10 SW Leading Actors.

I am going on a major “spending spree” to buy DVDS of ROBERT HUNDAR SWs.

This is an actor with many superb films and a major figure in SW history, his early 1960s
SWs are very significative, innovative and set a major trend for the genre as a whole.
Robert Hundar’s SWs during the remainder of the 1960s/1970s are extremely good too.

I am new around here so let’s see if I can come up with some interesting names … If I were looking over a SW’s credits and considering whether or not to take a chance on it, these are the names that would catch my eye:

  1. Anthony Steffen
  2. Johnny Garko
  3. Giacomo Rossi-Stuart
  4. Salvator Borgese
  5. Raf Baldesarre
  6. Jack Palance
  7. Luciano Pigozzi
  8. Thomas Milian
  9. Aldo Sanbrell / Alberto D. Mendoza (tie)
  10. Tony Anthony

HONORABLE MENTION(S): The ladies – Rosalba Neri, Helga Line, Evelyn Stewart, Maria Kosti.

I also have to mention John Phillip Law because DEATH RIDES A HORSE is my favorite Spaghetti, and the only one he made that I am aware of. And of course Henry Silva. You can’t ever forget Henry Silva.

If I was locked in a room  with HELGA LINE and ROSALBA NERI :-* :-*
Then I would NOT be too quick in looking for the key… :o

  1. Eastwood 2. Terence Hill 3. Anthony Steffen 4. Bronson 5. Lee Van Cleef 6. Eli Wallach 7. Klaus Kinski 8. Franco Nero 9. George Eastman 10. Woody Strode
