Spanish audio and English subtitles for me please!
New German disc out now. Those who have it (or once you have it) please help us confirm all the technical specs.

Revisited this favorite of mine yesterday through the Wild East Blu ray. It’s a nicely transfered clean and good looking print, nothing to complain about there. However the audio is a little bit of a mess. It’s put together from at least 2 different sources, probably from VHS. There is hissing and humming here and there. The audio reels must have been in very rough shape to begin with because some parts have been replaced with a home made dub, like they did in Johnny Hamlet. I know people like Aldo appreciates this kind of restoration alot () but it’s not sitting so well with me.
I’d be happy to hear how the audio is on the new German release. Anyone got it and can compare?
Will shortly
especially the transfer, I don’t think the WE transfer is worth writing home about
Would love to know this aswell. Because I think their Long Days of Vengeance blu-ray used the WE audio, if I recall.
I don’t have anything to reference it with other than the Marketing and Wild East DVD. This is probably as good as it gets unti we get a new 4K scan off a glorious IB Tech print
I finally do have the EM disc and will have a look at it tomorrow, but I do no longer have the WE to compare and I never owned the French release.
I have the French Artus Films release. Let me know if you need any specs or screenshots.
are the French specs here complete/accurate? Precio de un hombre, El/BluRay - The Spaghetti Western Database
I just did a very (!) quick skipping through and I think the transfer looks quite excellent, albeit maybe with a tad too much edge enhancement. What I also noticed is the quality of the Spanish audio is not great.
Yes.
It sounds to me like they have used the WE audio, unfortunately. Maybe there is nothing better available? It has the parts where they have filled in scenes with their own dubbing, unless my ears are deceiving me. Makes me question why I spent about 30 quid to get it again, though the packaging presentation with the slipcover is a lot nicer I guess…
Your ears aren’t deceiving you … it’s unfortunate that more effort wasn’t made to locate a good quality English audio track, especially as this film was released in it’s English version by United Artists, under the ‘Ugly Ones’ title … somewhere out there is bound to be a surviving print, either 35mm or 16mm … these distributors are in the business of making money, so it’s certain to turn up at some point.
Will the German release let me watch in Spanish with English subtitles?
haven’t tested it yet, but so far EM has never forced or inhibited any audio/subtitle choices, so I assume yes
Yes, I can confirm.
Does anyone know why this is so rare in Italian audio? There’s hardly any release that has it, and those that have Italian listed I would find it hard to get a hold of someone to confirm it. But it was released in Italy I assume? So weird
Gets better with every viewing by the way. Just a shame the editing is so atrocious
That’s tempting. I was thinking of giving it a miss since the English audio is apparently the same as the Wild East disc.
Does anyone have any screenshots to compare the quality?
I regret that I got rid of the WE disc before this one arrived, so I could never compare not can I now. From mere recollection, the EM is a lot better, but it may have more to do with the encoding than the underlying material. Someone aughta compare the French, the EM and the WE disc side by side…
