The Senoritas

Yeah, it was pretty good score, especially for what seemed like a lower budgeted SW. I have the film on one of those ultra-cheap, multi-film boxsets. Does anyone know if there is a better version of it around?

I have that cheap box set too and amazingly my old crap VHS copy of that film has better picture quality!?!

Sadly, that’s not surprising at all. What are these DVD companies doing?!

I guess we can’t expect anything more from that particular collection. It only cost about $10 or so for 50 films!
And I assume they are all public domain prints being copied over and over from each other.

I believe Cine City Planet has it. On dvdr it’s 18 euros and he also sells (sold?) the source tape, a Dutch VHS, which is widescreen and has Dutch subtitles. (25 euros). I would love to see the movie widescreen. Right now I have the same version as you, which doesn’t do the movie justice. When you only look at the opening titles, you know how much they chopped of the edges. Horrible. And sad. But I’m not going to spend 18 euros on a dvdr, or 25 euros on an old vhs. Just a matter of principle.

Exactly. I have no problem getting a dvdr when a film doesn’t have a proper presentation on a commercial disc but you can’t charge that much for one. $10 would be much more reasonable…

Yeah. That seems to be the case with multiple SWs, unfortunately…

Having said that, I have one cheap set from St Clair with 9 Sw’s on it and 4 of them are pretty decent wide screen transfers. And for $5.99 for the set it was bloody good value.

Hmm. Don’t know if I’ve seen that one. What films are in widescreen?

The Grand Duel, Minnesota Clay, Johnny Yuma and Any Gun Can Play.
It also features fullscreen versions of The Hellbenders,This Man Can’t Die, It Can Be Done Amigo, Death Rides a Horse and White Comanche.
It even has some trailers and an Edd Byrnes bio documentary.

It’s just called ‘Spaghetti Westerns’ and you tell it by it’s big ‘Over 13 Hours!’ banner across the top of the cover. You may well already have these titles but if not you can usually find at DeepDiscount and such places.

Oh, yes, I DO have that one! I just haven’t watched anything on it yet. That’s cool that Minnesota Clay and Johnny Yuma are in widescreen (I already had widescreen copies of Grand Duel and Any Gun Can Play.) I’ll have to check one of those out tonight…

It’s this one you are talking about: http://www.axelmusic.com/productDetails/777966898193

But you might wanna go for this one instead: http://www.axelmusic.com/productDetails/011891951142

13 movies on 5 discs (20 hours). More or less the same movies. WS-version of Minnesota Clay, Johnny Yuma and Any Gun Can Play and Cut-throats Nine!

As far as I remember though the reason for these fantastic versions is that prints from Wild East and VCI have been stolen and re-used for these sets. Made a lot of people mad when it came out I remember.

That’s got to be the reason. When a film is in the public domain, any company can just take another company’s transfer and release it themselves. Sad but true (as far as I know, anyway…)

It’s just the public domain laws in the states which are this open isn’t it?

I don’t know about the laws of any other countries so I can’t comment. I only know that this is the case in the US, at least.

Bit of a bummer for Wild East but I guess it was the public domain angle which led them to choose those titles for release in the first place.

Sure is. You would have been shot in Europe

Anyhow, we have got way off topic.
Let’s remind ourselves what this thread is supposed to be about.
This is not actually a still from one of her westerns but is how I like to remember the divine Miss Welch
