The Last Western You Watched?

Quite the opposite. The Last Killer is much better. An underrated film.
Quite the opposite. The Last Killer is much better. An underrated film.
I agree, very good film.

Uh, nice with a different opinion for once. What made you like The Last Killer better? I didn’t think it had much going for it… Seemed to just drag on without anything really happening.

“The Far Country” (1954)
-James Stewart

In 1896, Jeff Webster sees the start of the Klondike gold rush as a golden opportunity to make a fortune in beef… He drives a cattle herd from Wyoming to Seattle, by ship to Skagway, and (after a delay caused by larcenous town boss Gannon) through the mountains to Dawson. There, he and his partner Ben Tatum get into the gold business themselves. Two lovely women fall for misanthropic Jeff, but he believes in every-man-for-himself, turning his back on growing lawlessness…until it finally strikes home.

Another great performance from James Stewart.
Good acting, good action and drama. A really good movie

Couldn’t agree more. The far Country is a classic. One of Anthony Mann’s / James Stewart’s very best.

KILL JOHNNY RINGO has recently been viewed.

I just thought the film was standard viewing.

Bullets Don’t Argue… Too much American western feel over this one, hell it’s even got a song put in + a irritating kid and for once an unbearable female charachter (the boys sister). The soundtrack was OK and the story is fine. If you like the classic American western you’re sure to like this one, I didn’t.

If You Meet Sartana, Pray for your Deathhttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Se_incontri_Sartana_prega_per_la_tua_morte (dvd)
-I think this is very overrated film, I just can’t get into it. I prefer all the Carnimeo’s Sartana films which are more entertaining and funny.

Son of Djangohttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Figlio_di_Django%2C_Il
-Average films or maybe little below average. Enough action to keep you entertained but nothing special. Title song was quite awful. Guy Madison appears on supporting role as his Reverend Colt character.

Well I thought I had better get round to watching WHAT AM I DOING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REVOLUTION as I have had since December 2006.

I was expecting it to be a really bad film after what I have read.

It is certaintly not CORBUCCI at his best and not his worst either, and the music was nice to listen to.

Had some things in I have never seen in a western before, and I always find these kind of things interesting.

Quite a reasonable budget to the film, and has it’s fair share of violent bits in aswell as some weird moments.

I have it and its the only SW I have not been able to sit through, half way through it I had had enough.

I’m thinking about giving it another try some day though.

I have to admit I was like that at first, but then sort of chilled and got into it for what it is.

But I reckon if I was not in a chilled mood when watching, I may have done the same as you!

I watched:
For a Few Dollars More (dvd)
God Forgives, I don’t (tv)

Is it the soundtrack on it’s own or is it the one which also has “Companeros” and something else on it (can’t remember what the other film was!!)

my one is from the 80’s and has 3 film scores on it, your one must be better because i think there is only 3 or 4 tracks from it on there.

There is now one with around 15 or so tracks on which is wonderful to listen to, and I managed to get it at a really cheap price from E Bay.

I used to have your issue.

Just watched ‘Day of anger’ on tv ! It’s been some time since I’ve last seen it. I still think it’s among the best SW !!!

Is it a western? I’m not sure since it doesn’t deal with the rule of law.
More of a love story, actually. The Horse Whisperer, sort of a chic flic, but I really like the film.

For those interested, El Dorado is on later tonight, on TCM.

“Winchester '73”
-James Stewart

one of the best westerns ever made. A true classic.
