The Last Western You Watched?

what did you watch it on, vhs, dvd?

It’s a dvd-r of a Dutch video tape, with English audio and Dutch subs.

Thanks, ive only ever seen an old U.K. tape and wondered if there was a better version

Well, until (hopefully) someone cleans it up and puts it out on dvd, the versions floating around are probably all pretty similar in terms of quality…

i’ve recently rewatched eastwood’s ‘pale rider’ - what a great movie!

Yes I like Clint Eastwood’s “American Westerns” a lot too, probably because in style they’re very influenced by the Dollars trilogy. Westerns staring Eastwood have always been shown on UK TV a lot, I grew up with them. I’ve just started collecting them on DVD, first purchase “Hang Em’ High”.

Tombstone

Such a great movie

One of my favourite westerns of the 90’s

Day of Anger. I’ve finally started watching the stuff i got a couple of days ago. Hadn’t seen this one before, and really enjoyed it, especially Van Cleef’s performance.

Watched Dirty Little Billy, which probably is the muddiest (literally) western ever made. Ok movie with a good cast. Unfortunately fell asleep during Buchanan Rides Alone, out of exhaustion not because the movie was bad. From what I saw it’s kind of a black comedy, which is pleasant. But I need to watch that again, if it ever comes on again. Also watched Charge! (Campa carogna… la taglia cresce ), average spaghetti -western, with some weird elements. The guy portrayed by Garko is a muslim, who likes to quoute the koran, although I doubt that all of these quotes can actually be found in there. “He who wears umbrella counts his blessings in the sun.”, and then he shoots some guys with the umbrella. Some weird slapstick fighting in there too, accompanied by stupid cartoon sounds.

Watched ‘Django Shoots First’ the other day which I picked up on sale from HMV online. I enjoyed it although it definitely falls in to the category of Bandwagon jumping Django films. The character named Django has no similarity to the original and you can only assume the producers decided to include the name to get some easy coat tail action from it. They must have moved pretty quick as this film is also from 1966. On the whole though I enjoyed it. Fernando Sancho is always good value and Evelyn Stewart always looks great.

‘Django, Kill’ is on tonight here in the UK on More 4 if there are any more Brits out there. It starts at 2.00am I think so I’ll be taping it to watch later.

I already have it so i won’t be watching it, i hope you enjoy it, last time it saw it on t.v on BBC2 they actually showed the uncut scenes before hand in a little documentary by Alex Cox, let’s hope they show the proper version so you can watch it in it’s entirety.

Here’s hoping. I’ve been looking out for it for some time. Can get it on DVD but am too cheap to stump up the price. If I enjoy it tonight I might buy it though.

I very much doubt this screening will be the UNCUT version!

Watched “NAVAJO JOE” this evening, i haven’t watched it for a good while and thought i would chuck it on.

i’ve always wondered if he lived or died at the end?

Dies, a pretty bad wound, and lets not forget it is directed by the King of the NEGATIVE.

Just finished watching “A Man Called Apocalypse Joe”, which i thoroughly enjoyed. It was a nice, different kind of western, and it was good to see Anthony Steffen playing a little against type; (the bit where his aunt punched him through the jail cell bars was particularly funny).

Also watched “His Life is Mine”, which i found ok, when i actually thought i’d hate it. Dean Reed’s perpetual toothy grin was a little annoying though! Actually i read some stuff about him recently and it seems his life was much more interesting than his westerns. He seems to be the subject of a few conspiracy theories, and i gather a film about him may be in the pipeline, although i really can’t imagine Tom Hanks playing him! :-\ ???

Can you tell us something more?
