[quote="Bad Lieutenaguess. . Zachariah was, well… weird. A superbly hippiewestern with Don Johnson. Basically about two friends in the wild west, who chose different paths. I’d like to hear other people’s opinions about this.[/quote]i seen this about 10 yrs ago (stoned) i remember the james gang and counrty joe and the fish were in it playing electric quitars(in the old west?) i need to watch it again, although i dont remember liking it much.
Thanks again. I found it…actually on a German site as i couldn’t find any places selling it in the UK! Hopefully it’ll turn up soon.
OK, i just sat thru “Roy Colt and Winchester Jack”. I’d been curious about it for some time as i’m a bit of a Bava fan. I’ve read a lot of negative things about it, and i have to admit, i was pretty disappointed. The comedy was definitely more miss than hit! It’s a shame since i’ve pretty much liked the other westerns i’ve seen Brett Halsey in, and it’s always nice to see Frederico Boido, but overall a bit of a disappointment. Nice music though.

I agree with you 100% on this.
I remember feeling dissapointed after watching this, and does not match up to his work in the horror genre.
Yeah, i think he definitely should have stuck with the horror stuff It’s just annoyed me a bit because i really wanted to like it, even though comedy isn’t really my thing, but that’s life i guess! Now i just have to wait for when The Hills Run Red turns up. I really hope it’s a better watch than RCAWJ!!!
It’s funny really because I felt exactly like you about it!.
I think you will like THE HILLS RUN RED much better, but some people find it a bit like a U.S western in bits.
You have Mr. Henry Silvia in it who is outstanding, he just looks one mean dude.
Morricone also does the music, then you probably already know this.
Actually, Henry Silva is one of the main reasons i want to see it! I have seen a (poor quality) trailer for it, and as you mentioned, it did look a little more like a US western but i think i’ll probably enjoy it.
I think he only starred in this spaghetti, but correct me if I am wrong.
He starred in quite a few Italian crime films, but these films are not to everyone’s taste.

No, i think you’re right on that one. About Italian crime films, i did recently buy a couple out of curiosity (Colt 38 Special Squad, and Rome Armed To The Teeth), and thoroughly enjoyed them both.
Well, one thing is for certain I cannot argue with you in your taste in films!
I love Italian crime films, as I just think they kick arse.
The music, actors, fast paced action, cynical stories… what more do you need?
I have just picked up ROMED ARMED TO THE TEETH, and look forward to watching as Umberto Lenzi has made some excellent crime films.

I have to agree. And i think i’ll be getting some more of those films sooner rather than later. One added bonus for me, was that they both featured Ivan Rassimov, and he was a complete bastard in both ;D
Yes, Ivan Rassimov he is one scary guy.
You have alot to look forward to in your search for new crime films, as like the spaghetti western when on form, the crime film is compulsive viewing.
Some of my fav’s are:
REVOLVER
THE CYNIC THE RAT AND THE FIST
WEAPONS OF DEATH
ALMOST HUMAN
VIOLENT CITY
CALIBRE 9
STREETKILLERS
CRY OF A PROSTITUTE
CONTRABAND
I also have two BLUE UNDERGROUND issues to watch when I get round to it.
One is called THE BIG RACKET and the other is THE HEROIN BUSTERS, both with FABIO TESTI.

I’ll take them as recommendations then! Actually, i have been eyeing up Almost Human at XploitedCinema; it sounds pretty good.
And yeah, Ivan Rassimov was a bit scary looking, but i gather he was a pretty mellow guy in real life. Anyway, he’s long been a favourite actor of mine (tho i’ve never taken a look at those cannibal films he was in!). I was really sad to hear about his death a few years back.
hmmm…we do seem to be wandering off the topic a bit here!

Well, yes we have wondered off topic here!, what do you suggest?
Yes, Ivan Rassimov was a sweet guy and I saw him in a very interesting interview once (cannot remember which DVD extra’s), and like so many actor’s, they are now sadly dead.
I do not like the torture of real life animals in cannibal films, so they are not my thing really, as that kind of thing is just nasty.
I think you will love ALMOST HUMAN, your kind of film!

Well…it doesn’t yet count as the “last western watched” but i am currently viewing “Cowards Don’t Pray”. Ok, it’s another one i’ve seen quite a few times, but i do like to see Gianni Garko in psycho mode from time to time! The only problem is that the night scenes in this print are SO dark it’s hard to see what’s going on!
Ok…not sure quite what i did wrong there! ??? :-[
No, I have not heard of this film, you will have to tell me more.
But, I know what you mean though about night time scenes being to dark, as it is one of my pet hates.

Maybe you’ve seen it under the title “A Taste Of Vengeance”? Basically Gianni Garko’s character returns from the civil war and his wife is raped/murdered while he is left for dead. He’s helped by Ivan Rassimov and they team up together, eventually being joined by Rassimov’s brother, and they go after the murderers. Well, to cut a long story short, Garko has been badly affected by previous event s and gradually becomes a bloodthirsty and pretty deranged bandit…(quite similar to his character in Blood At Sundown really) and so Rassimov has to put an end to him. Parts of it are a bit cheesy but overall it documents Garko’s lapse into madness pretty well, and you kind of end up feeling some sympathy for him!
