Bad Boys - Haven’t see it for years, used to watch it all the time when I was high school age (11-16,for the benefit of those in the U.S., aren’t your “High School” ages are a bit higher?). I enjoyed it just as much now as I did then. It’s a somewhat longer version to what I’d sen before. On a trivia note you see a cinema in the background is showing Halloween II (same director), I think it’s pretty cool when filmmakers do things like that.
The Conjuring - I’ve near enough avoided the slew of films like this that have come out the last few years but was told this one was pretty good. I was impressed, really enjoyed it (and I’ve had a thing for Vera Farmiga recently), well paced and just the right amount of shock moments.
i saw Insidious the other day and thought i’d enjoy it (i like occult related movies), but didn’t
then a friend forced me to watch one scene from Conjuring (some exorcism), but it really did nothing for me
Last night, watched the Oldboy remake. Sharlto Copley’s English accent was something out of a bad farcical comedy and Josh Brolin was unlikeable and gormless throughout, and I don’t think I’ve seen a Josh Brolin performance I didn’t immediately take to before. Whole thing had a rushed feel to it; I understand the studio chopped it from 140 to 105 minutes, and it notices. There were lapses in narrative logic, some of which were in the original tbf but which seemed - and still seem - fine in the Park Chan-wook version but which set off loud WARNING sirens in the Spike Lee effort. Strange.
Then, for reasons that seem entirely illogical to me now (I watched Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa the other day and enjoyed it, and I guess I had a late night craving for more of that stupidity), I sat up and watched Jackass: The Movie, Jackass Number Two & Jackass 3. I woke up this morning bloody exhausted already, and for what? To witness some bellends extract spunk from a horse and then drink it. I love Jackass, but watching it is a little like eating a big plate of nachos covered in sour cream and cheese. Sounds like a great idea, seems tremendous at the time but later, when I’m sat there feeling unsatisfied, bloated and more than a little nauseous, I wonder why I did that.
I thought Bad Grandpa was hilarious. The strip club scene Just watched Ninja 2 Shadow of a Tear. Best martial arts movie ive seen in a long time. Yodlaf, if you havent seen it check it out!
It has a dumb story, but it’s not so bad. Adkins delivers.
Like we watch things like this for the story anyway
District 9 (2009)- Interesting film to say the least and worth a watch for sure, but the style of it was not to my liking though. I prefer Elysyum over this one.
Super Bitch (1973)- Above average Italian crime/thriller with a good Ivan Rassimov in the lead role as an inspector who goes undercover and becomes embroiled with two rival drug gangs. And also in this flick, there is Stephanie Beacham who’s quite nice in the nude.
Super Bitch is a fave of mine. As is Stephanie Beacham. Anyone who only knows her from her U.S. TV work like Dynasty and such should check out her earlier British films from the 70s. She was lovely.

Who Killed Teddy Bear 1965 - in Peeping Tom and Twisted Nerve territory but somewhere between chronologically. It’s not as good as either of the others though, but I can see why it was shocking and banned in its day.
Set in the sleazy underbelly of porno New York and a disco/nightclub where Juliet Prowse looks lovely and spins the vinyl for the “groovy dance sequences” - she is targeted with dirty phone calls from an ‘admirer’. The cop looking out for her is an expert in psycho-sexual disorders and may have crossed the line himself… some good performances from Elaine Stritch and Sal Mineo as well, but pretty straight forward storywise. Black and white photography looks good as well.
The extra of Sal Mineo narrating a short on the dangers of taking l.s.d. :o - with teens jumping of cliffs and sticking their hands in flames was mildly diverting as well.
Rewind This - Recent documentary about the history of VHS, Beta and collectors. Goes a bit more into the silly hipster videos than I care for at times, but overall a very interesting watch that I think a lot of folks here would enjoy. Also features a cool synthesizer soundtrack
Watched Machete Kills last evening. Very over-the-top, comic bookish and kitschish (that’s “cheese-y” in American lingo). Still very amusing to watch if you like gratuitous violence and gun battles. Next installment appears to be a sci-fi version of Machete…if the trailers and film ending are any indication. LOL
