One thing takes to another, and after speaking of Judge Dredd in anether thread decided to take a look at this one, always liked the comic and the character.
A decent modern style B movie if I can call it so, actually the kind of thing that some people think Tarantino should be doing.
Karl urban fits the part much better than Sly Stallone he’s a great Dredd, more vulnerable and apolitical but never letting is humanity behind , even if he never takes is helmet, the actress who plays the Rookie Judge Anderson also gives a fine rate performance, a nice match for the always helmet on Dredd.
Liked the colour saturation, but I can understand if other think it’s a bit over the top, the film of course its much more in context with the original comics.
The story is pretty simple and the film has a great start and a great ending, and from time to time we really feel the influence of …here we go… Ridley Scott “Blade Runner”, still after all these years.
It does fail in building enough or more tension for a plot that takes part in a close environment, and being a very violent film I confess that a t some point I become really indifferent to all the blood going around, that’s the problem with this type of films for me at least.
Apart from these flaws the director made a good work in my view, he did a very decent film Omagh (more than decent to be honest), but apart from that I haven’t seen anything more from him
In the overall a good film, seen much worst in this genre (forget about the nonsense that the resident evil franchise has become), calling it a good modern day B movie works like a compliment.
Ah I saw it in 2D
